SA Master Distiller to be Inducted into Global Whisky Hall of Fame

Whisky Magazine announced today (4 February) that Andy Watts, Distell Master Distiller of a range of proudly South African whiskies, Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky and Three Ships Whisky, will be bestowed the great honour of being inducted into Whisky Magazine’s Whisky Hall of Fame!

The induction will take place on 25 March during an online ceremony when the Global Winners of the Icons of Whisky Awards, together with the World Whiskies Awards winners, will be announced.

The honour of Whisky Hall of Fame has been bestowed on just a handful of iconic people since its inception in 2004, as a permanent tribute to their lasting contribution to the whisky industry.

Andy will receive this prestigious accolade in recognition of his life-long commitment to the South African whisky industry and subsequently, the World Whisky Category (whiskies produced outside of Scotland, the USA and UK).

One of the Kilchomans will find its way to Luben and an Arran Sherry Cask will find its way back.

This one’s not for drinking at the moment.

Too bad! I was going to ask your thoughts on it :p

I'm interested in trying some of their releases - they're South African so it would be great to support local.

I see Yossi Schwartz from Single & Single lived in South Africa for 20+ years and then left again. Where is he from originally?

The S&S Ledaig is exceptional...and it's much cheaper than the Imperial. That Imperial should be sublime but I'd have to find a place to try and sample.

Initial thoughts on the Bains 10yo is buy it. The wine influence isn't over powering. If you have had the 15yo then you'll be in familiar territory. The cask finish adds a lovely sweetness layered over the caramel notes that I typically find in the 15yo. Hard to judge the gap in age statement when you have the 2 side by side. They 10yo punches well above its weight class. Another winner from Andy.

Edit: it swims well so don't be a afraid to add a few drops of water.

Forgot about those. That Headonism box doesn't look to be in the best condition, which is a pity since it's going on the display shelf....

My box is in decent shape - so will hang onto it - bottle still sealed for now.

They haven't processed my order yet (was late Thursday). Manager has reserved 1 for me.
They did not have stock on the item that I ordered so I changed it for the MM 101.
They are all out of stock and never had enough to fulfill your order...that's what the manager told me when I called and manually bought your stuff over the phone...
