I'm a sucker for fancy/unique bottles and cases

I have a bit of the same issue. I have some tin from Glenfiddich that was made from the copper they recovered one year when replacing some of their stills, or something like that. Think it even has the still number printed on the tin.

Got these from Checkers
Bruichladdich R750
Glenfiddich R937
Glen Scotia R413

What else have you got?
I'm always looking for the next thing.
I have a Blantons (actually really nice), Crystal Head vodka, one of those Bell's commemorative decanters and a Ballantynes clay decanter.

Some OLD Glenfiddich tin as well with some clan emblems on it. Not worth much, but it's really old. My mom got it from her mom many moons ago. My gran used to store her knitting needles in it. It's not scarce, just cool. I dunno what else, TBH. Haven't looked in a looong time :D

I was in Checkers today looking at the Classic Laddie for R850 and the 18 yo Glenfiddich was about R1450 iirc? How did you mange that?

The Glenfiddich had a Xtra savings tag on it and I confirmed the price and it was R974. It was rung up at R1500 each and I asked for the tag to confirm the price. The manager came through and changed the price to reflect the Xtra savings tag.
As far as Port Charlottle and Bruichladdich, they are priced at R850 and R750 in a couple of the stores, not all stores have stock though.

What checkers?

I don't care much for double cask but Checkers Cape Gate has a few still (next to the Loch Lomond bottles but a bit obscured) at the xtra savings card special which should be R450 or less.
Made a quick turn, but nothing caught my eye.

Did spot these though.

Latest mailer from Whisky Brother mentioned that the Scotch Malt Whisky Society will be opening a chapter here in South Africa.

Now, I can take or leave the tastings, but more opportunity to locally source even more unique bottlings? Sign me up!

I lived next door to an elderly chap in the Scottish Borders who was a member and would travel up to Edinburgh for the meetings religiously. He had some seriously obscure samples that I'm afraid were wasted on me back then, about 20 years ago, as I hadn't really started my whisky journey at that time :(

Ah, man, if only!

My father received a lot of whisky as gifts during his time working. He would just give it on to people he knew who liked whisky except one many years ago (this one got lost at the back of a kitchen cupboard and forgotten). It's a a mint-condition unopened Chivas 25YO from the early 80s (old bottling/packaging). That and a Backsberg brandy they got during their honeymoon in 1981 which was one of the nicest local brandies I've had.

Who knows what real treasures there could have been!
