It was Ndebele the premier and not Cele the MEC for safety, security and transport. I think we are getting mixed up with various incidences here.
We will make sure to invite youBageloo all I can say is maybe you and Angelo should get together for tea or something.
I meant he could have been seen as threatening and therefore couls have been shot at.
The elected officials do carry a higher security risk than normal civilians hence the VIP protection arrangement.
I'm not defending the indefensible, but I think we are barking up the wrong tree by placing the blame at the VIP's doorstep. His bodyguards most likely make the decision about safe routes to take, safe speeds to travel at etc.
This time no law was broken. The law makes provision for vip protection unit to exeed the speed limits under emergency situations.
The person who broke the law was the whistle blower. His over-zealousness will land him in jail one day (or dead)
According to the story, the department could not confirm who was driving the vehicle as the premier was overseas at that time. Where then do you get the idea that he was going to a meeting? Please do explain how being late for a meeting constitutes and emergency. Failing that perhaps you will retract this statement?

Cele said he was late for the launch of a pedestrian safety campaign in KwaMashu after his flight from Johannesburg to Durban was delayed by more than an hour.
This he argued, turned a "well-planned and scheduled meeting" into an "emergency".

What exactly is the problem with a speeding convoy. I would think they do us a favour by passing by quickly. But to go chasing after one just so you can snap along is just plain dumb, and smells of obsession. The guy could have been killed for Christ sake.

Respect is a two way street and far too often these days I see the historical 'victims' of racial abuse forgetting this fact.
