Whites cannot criticize blacks?

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/kaff*r (put i in place of *)

Here's some origins of the word
kaff*r
1790, from Arabic qafir "unbeliever, infidel, impious wretch," with a lit. sense of "one who does not admit the blessings of God," from kafara "to cover up, conceal, deny." Technically, "non-Muslim," but in Ottoman times it came to be used almost exclusively for "Christian." Early Eng. missionaries used it as an equivalent of "heathen" to refer to Bantus in South Africa (1792), from which use it came generally to mean "South African black" regardless of ethnicity, and to be a term of abuse since at least 1934.

Praise God... we're all Kaff*rs... white... black... colourd... indian... as long as you're from southern africa... and not muslim :D
Maybe now we can stop using it as an abusive of peoples colour & rather for the way they drive or other ungodly acts
but not for the slums... as it can't apply to the inventors of the word :D:D

and here is another one http://www.kaff*r.com/ (put i in place of *)

Jokes aside, I still firmly believe it still refers to an ungodly person... but many still abuse its meaning... I don't mind being called it... but varies from person to person :)
If you want to blame someone... blame the Arabs :D

I always thought it came from the saying "Die koring van die kaf skei". I heard that they used to use black slaves for this job, hence the name "kaf*ers".

Read King Leopold's Ghost or watch the History Channel doccie based on the book!
The best I can do is get you the page numbers
because I still have the book. I cannot believe you are trying to justify the way those people where treated at a time when the world was dividing up Africa amongst themselves like Africans were of no consequence then or in future!

Leopold was a murderer. Apparently also entertained pre-teen girls, according to a documentary.

You can read about Belgian Congo in the book Heart of Darkness, by Josef Conrad.

A skin-head was interviewed on C&I's Gang-Land and he said that whatever you tell him he will always see black people as sub-human. Now that's how white people saw black people when they first arrived in Africa. This is widely demonstrated in King Leopold's Ghost. At some point he writes about how a group of black people where taken to Belgium & shown in a Zoo with some sign equalling do not feed the animals hanged.

The man's a skinhead, compare him to the Black Panthers in the US.

Of course the same skinhead would have gotten some nasty treatment if he ran into AWB members, they wouldn't give him the time of day either.

Why should they have been?

I know the colonial settlers of 300+ years ago were pretty advanced compared to Africans at the time, but they weren't that advanced that they knew all the things we know now about race and environment and how they do and don't affect human development.

All they saw was a bunch of unintelligible dark people scratching around semi-naked in the dust. Any settler who compared them favourably to Europeans (who were busy conquering the world, making scientific discoveries on a daily basis, living in richly decorated homes and generally being awesome) would have been laughed at and told not to be stupid.

Blame the ancient colonialists by all means. But don't try to make out that they did this while knowing that Africans were just as human as they were.

Save your bile and spite for people who *still* think like ancient colonialists (or like King Leopold, who should have known better by that point).

It still is used to imply an ungodly person... as in the oxford dictionarys meaning...
I occasionally use it on whites, colourds, indians & blacks... especially when they drive k*k.. am I racist in using it.. though its nothing to do with colour?
Hell... rightly so... I know of many occasions where people could say the same for me... so what.. though I know I shouldn't... as some would interpret it differently :o
Thousands would say YES. Better keep your doors locked
You may use it at the wrong moment and end up as roadkill.

Id say yes like sackboy said it doesnt matter what the word actually means in the dictionary, its how its used that matters.... I bet you wouldn't have even known the word if it wasn't used in the apartheid times.

So know you gonna try blid fold people by making them think you not using it in an offensive manner! This is not addressed to you but everyone who uses the word.
