Whites cannot criticize blacks?

I wish people stop messing about skin colour... and focus on the ability to do the tasks..

lotsa love and huggles
The DA has claimed they don't see colour, but it appears they do. This country's past has made colour a political football. There is also the large cultural divide in our "rainbow nation" with colour being the signature difference. Black, white, coloured, Indian - there are big gaps in the way we think, so there will be a divide.

Its a pity there were no purple, green or even rainbow coloured people in existence instead of shades hmm when you think about it its all shades of one single colour..:o
Yes when the country went rainbow they should have kept it rainbow, and yes digging up the past soiled the rainbow, but there never studied the past inteligently and focused on the future.
I actualy thaught the DA had a greater consciousness that what its fruits are showing, and yes true fruits often show under true pressure. And your term of political football is perfect for the FIFA 2010 ((giggles)) its ironic you should mention your figure of speech.
A lot has to do as well perhaps with the way people identify each other by ethnic grouping rather than the uniqueness of an individual which is there complete genetic code, not there ethnic grouping.

I actualy get anoyed when websites one signs up to, or even when one goes to college/school /varsity etc, or apply for work if given an extra aplication form by the company or an agency that they have to stipulate there colour. I think everyone should boyocott this and select other... and write I am my own unique individual or simply " Proudly South African"... this will in time bring out the true rainbow nation as it will screw up the enthnic grouping system in which many coporate and government institutions use.:p

Racism is built in to every person on the planet (even the animal kingdom) - its HOW the individual chooses to use that defense mechanism.

If I walked up to a white person and called him a 'baboon', what would I be saying? I interpret that as 'you are acting like a monkey' - but say the same sentence to an Black person who happens to be closer to the same colour as the baboon and the banter changes to an insult.

Every political party uses colour in some covert fashion, but I dont see why the DA's racism is bigger and more sensationalist than Institutionalized racism installed by Current and previous governments.

I use the trump card "Is it because I am African?" - it usually gets me what I want in a politically correct UK. Racism is another name of 'Getting your own way'

It's that "white guilt" it will never go away nor will it ever be allowed to go away.... It's happening the world over

i never understood white guilt. it's like atheists being upset that they're going to hell. it's easy to reason your way out of it, and to prevent any further nationalism. if you're proud of what your race has acheived, you have to at the same time be ashamed of what your race has done. you can't take credit for the good and then cry when people bring up the bad ;)

anyway, i'm white. so what? i'd rather be proud of something I'VE acheived instead of what my great great great great great uncle's cousin did.

white guilt to me is just as silly as white pride.

i think that's more speciecism ;) i don't think there are black people swooping out of the sky trying to pick you up and eat you, or white people swimming around in the ocean trying to eat coloureds :) and most male animals bonk other males of the same species, does that mean i should try it out sometime?

the word "baboon" isn't a bad word itself, but it's the manner in which it is intended. the word slut isn't as bad a word if you call a guy it, but if you used it to describe a woman it is very insulting and degrading, and should be used along with such things known as common sense and tact :)

that is wrong. people are different, but they're not handicapped. furthermore to KNOW that you can use it to wrap people around your finger is just as wrong as actual racism. if a child is being bullied by another child it doesn't give the child the right to call every person who doesn't sacrifice something to them a bully :)

Not the same thing.... not at all.

You can call me a slut I'm not going to respond because it's not true, but if it is i'll react.

So if i call you a baboon and you start shouting it means you are a baboon.

Agreed, if the shoe fits, so to speak.

I am so tired of hearing statements like the one's in this thread, people must get over it and move on! No wonder we are in a recession, people are to busy living in the past to look to the future!

Most people would be offended at being called a slut whether that were true or not because saying that to a person (esp. if they are not a slut) is untrue & offensive. It is not like someone telling a lie about you - it is what is implied in the subtext that is offensive.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved. - Russell Lynes

Ok, but name one word, that is considered highly degrading to white people?

Exactly what I was going to say - there aren't any! We laugh at these names because tomorrow we're going to wake up white and you know what...we're ok with that!

Look, call us unequal or second rate or something to that effect and you're going to be staring down the barrel of white anger but as far as racially-based slander goes, it's really a non-issue as far as I'm concerned.

It's interesting you make a distinction between being referred as a second rate citizen and racial name calling. It is in fact exactly because white people have always seen other races as below them (and seen blacks as less than animals) that those races are deeply offended by name calling by white people.
