Who do you add on LinkedIn?

I'm getting requests from people I know vaguely (similar social circle)...but they're in an entirely different field & probably not "useful" to me in the professional sense.

Do you add people like that?

How about recruiters relevant to your field?
 
Friends(professionals not fb friends)
Professionals I meet often at a meet up.

I only add people if I know them. I only add recruiters if they place me - a big warning here: some recruiters who don't know you from a bar of soap will go through your connections, and contact people claiming to have worked with you and/or to know you - don't do it!

Should I ever find my self in desperate need of as many recruiters as possible one day, I have several hundred pending connection invitations I can wade through ;-)

Why would they want to do that? :confused: I added a couple of recruiters when they requested me just to check all their links.

Personally I hate linkedin. It's like a glorified CV and lying on a CV is common place so you can't really trust it.

They do it so that it doesn't look like they are cold-calling you, which means that their messages are less likely to be ignored.
 
I'm very choosy about who I add, try and stick to people in the same field, or who generally have a good profile that might be worth connecting to. Usually senior or executive management.

I only add people in the same field and co-workers I liked. I get connection requests from other countries which I find suspect. Makes me wonder if they are trying for identity theft.
 
I tend to add most people. I know at least 90% of my connections, though.

I, for some odd reason got the top 15% viewed profile views in the world 2 years ago.
