who is actually getting a ps3?

Nope.

I'll get a XBOX360 when i get a decent HDTV, so for now its PC.

Only PC for me for now. The PS3 will be overpriced at the start.

Also, waiting a few months will tell us towards which the People are leaning to here is RSA. Remembering the first Xbox slumped, maybe the other way round this time.

Time is a telling.

I am, put my deposit down and all. Launching on my Birthday so it must be a sign ;) !

LOL @ people putting down deposits for a PS3. It's almost like buying a car

I'm waiting for Gran Turismo 5 to come out, the one and only reason I'll buy a PS3 over a Xbox 360 atm, but that game has the potential to be worth the price of the console included for poor losers like me that can't YET affort that Skyline GTR ;-D. Will also see how Forza Motorsport 2 turns out, if its similiar then my mind is already made up.

R6300 at reggies, holy moly. Ok, i'm a poor student but the way i'd go is a second hand 360 with a game or 2 thrown in and you rockin for half the normal price.

... dont see the point in getting a PS3 now ... id wait awhile and give sony that chance to see if it can "fix" the console to some extent with firmware releases and release some games worth looking at it that far superior to an X360... if that dont happen then i aint gonna bother wasting my R6000

lol, if you think about it can be a monster pc aswell, coz with linux running you can do documents and all that ****
Sure - what ever you say scotty777

I'll shave off an eyebrow if you can accomplish using it for anything more than games :/

Besides, you could buy a monster PC for R6300.

So much for the argument of 'consoles are cheaper than PC.' By the time you have bought a PS3, maybe a 2nd controller and 5 games, you could just have well bought a PC, buy a few games and it'll be cheaper.

Tanarri, I think you hit a very valuable point- it's not that the PS3 is more expensive than a 360, it's more expensive than a fully customizable high end PC . . .

The first Xbox in South Africa is the XBox 360.

Worldwide the original XBox came out long after the PS2.

The PS3 isn't consoles, it is a console.

Once you factor in the time wasted fiddling with a PC consoles may well be cheaper. What they have going for them is that you turn it on, put in your game and play.

I'll be waiting. The XBox 360 premium is priced a bit higher than I am willing to pay for a console and the PS3 is not even close. I have no reason to hurry as I have a shelf full of games for my current consoles that I have not yet finished.

Heck il be honest, my bonus is in march every year, so i can most certainly afford it when it launches, but i reckon il just get a new pc at round the same price for this year, then get one next year Mrach for half the donderse price :)

lol, im getting one coz of insurance and i need a media player for my tv and shyte
You can use a 360 as a media centre, you can even use the original Xbox as a media centre. Why pay double the price for something that you can do at half the price?

because of blue ray, it'sa better option then watch every one rush out and get a hd-drive for your xbox. i also don't like the fact that you need another unit for hd, as for games, in about a years time most xbox360 games will be put on hd-dvd. and if i want wifi i need to by a dongle for 1000 bucks. it seems to be adding up. and coz my house is wireless, and i want to actually go on the internet on my mediacenter.

The 360 is already HD capable, you can run HD movies off the hard drive. And the reason why you have to buy an external drive is because you have the option of buying whichever drive wins in the end. You don't want to have a bluray drive forced down you, only to have hd-dvd win in the end. Think about it, then again it's your R6000, blow it if you please ;)
