I'm mainly trying to figure out if enough people will end up getting the SE W960i, or if it'll just remain too expensive and fade into the background like the W950i.

Maybe provide a link to gsm arena and maybe the strong points of the phone to get a discussion going? Just a suggestion ;)

Good point :)

Sony Ericsson W960i : http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_w960-2008.php

Pros:
Great looks, Symbian 9.1 UIQ 3.0 smartphone with regular keypad (none of that qwerty nonsense), 8gig storage, 3.2megapixel camera WITH autofocus, 3G and WiFi

Cons (and counter-arguments):
No infrared (but how many people really use that all the time?), no memory expansion slot (8gig storage onboard though!!!), so called "dedicated" music buttons aren't actually dedicated (ok, a bit of an irritation, but no train smash), no HSDPA, no EDGE

As far as I can tell, this is about the best a phone gets for users like me. The reviewers seem to like it. They have a few quirks, like the fact that the "back" button has been moved from the side to the front (unlike the P1i which has it on the side for a true one-handed experience). Otherwise, mostly positive reviews, and I can't want to give this phone a try myself!

:P

Good summary, what does it retail for currently new? And what can we expect it to retail for in the next 3 months, both new and second hand? ;)

I've seen it for around 6k new and bidorbuy had a chap selling one for 3.3k, bought on a trip to Dubai, brand new...3 months time any ones guess, I would say new for around 4.5k-5k and 2nd hand 2.5k-3k...

Not sure of exact prices, but it seems like it's in the same range as the N82 (maybe slightly more expensive) which puts it at just over R5000-00.

I'm thinking that in 3months time, it'd probably drop to around R4000-00. Couldn't, in clear conscience, say what a second hand price would be like!

I'd love one, been eyeing them since November. But it seems as if they were going to available on MTN's Procall contracts, but now I don't see them on their list. Pity.

Well it seems they're on offer from Nashua Mobile. IF they had stock, they'd be in the region of about R1900-00 pay-in on a Top Up 315 contract. Apparently no idea when new stock will arrive :(

Got a W960i

Got a W960i 3 weeks ago on MTN Procall 120 at R319 a month. No pay in.
