Why Android sucks Part 2 (OS behavior)

Source: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/09/18/ux-things-i-hate-about-android/

  • I Never Have Any Idea What The Back Button Will Do
  • Navigation Is Still Gingerbread-Themed
  • The Recent Apps List Gets Confused
  • Icons Will Open The Wrong App
  • No Two Icons Are The Same Size
  • The Google Voice Icon Makes No Sense
  • The Play Store Doesn't Remember Your Scroll Location
  • Google Music Has No Status Bar... In Landscape
  • Horizontal Support Sucks
  • Unmanageable Cloud Storage Pictures In The Gallery
And other small things.

Before I get flamed, its an interesting read (Even if you are a fandroid)

Oh I can add another one the Author did not, that ticks me off big time.
Not being able to see only your purchased & not installed apps on Google Play (Unless you use a 3rd party app)

Sucks.
Behaviour (UK) (or behavior for US).

While all Android users have things they hate about Android, it does not suck :p

If you compare it to the other 2 OS's in Look and feel, then yes it does suck :)

As a new user people notice it, as someone that used Android since 2.x you learned to live with it.

Most of these are stupid points.

You never know what the back button will do? wtf how stupid is this user? when I push it, I go back a step or it exits the application if you're all the way back.

The Google voice icon makes no sense? Umm.. It's a frigging microphone, for someone to speak? *smashes face on keyboard*

The only one I agree with is the Play Store not remembering your scroll location.

And none of these points makes Android suck.

In fact, you suck for not being able to spell suck.

If someone compiled a list of why iOS sucked it would have at least 20 entries. And even as an android fan, I'll say iOS doesn't suck but it does have quite a few problems, imho, way more than Android.

At least make the title "Problems with Android" people might take you more seriously, like others have said, you're probably trolling

Pretty much my thoughts... With regards to the back button, for me it's pretty much gone back every single time. On iOS there is no back button so the developers decide if they want to put one there and if they want to make it go back one screen, or 2, or do something else completely random.
On WP7.5, you can press back to go back through every single screen since you booted up your phone :p (wtf?)

Well this does bug me somewhat. For instance, you open a message from your notification bar - you click back wanting to see the rest of your messages, but it exits the message app. Which of course is right because you never went there, but I can see why people might have this problem.

The only one I agree with is the Play Store not remembering your scroll location.

Yes this on bugs me too, and the one not being able to see only your purchased apps.

And none of these points makes Android suck.

Just something to work on.

That depends on what you want, but yes Android suits me better.

Sorry MerchantV, you just missed out :D

Dammit. Damn vendors,

Listen guys no OS is without flaws. The fact that I cant see the apps I purchased is annoying but I can live with it.

If you cant live with the "flaws" in your opinion then move to another OS.

Bitching about the stuff will not fix it.

Move ON

Rant OVER

I read the article last night, and i have to agree with the points raised. I also have to mention that I never noticed one of these issues myself, so they have never bothered me.

I am also pretty certain the issues will be ironed out shortly.

Read it last night, this is an annoyance for me too:
There Is No Way, Anywhere, To See Your Purchased Apps
Personally, I have no idea what apps are floating out there that I've paid for.
I would like to have this function when browsing the play store via web browser... :(

Actually I disagree with this.

This is how problems get sorted, by 1st acknowledging that they exist and 2nd getting it to the people that can do something about it's attention.

Indeed a full listing of purchased apps would be welcomed... They do show up under "my apps" but so do 100's of others...

If an OS did suck (which Android does not), it would be because it was buggy, full of lag, drained the battery too quickly, etc. real issues. These are petty ones. Nobody has to use an OS that sucks, there are alternatives after all.
