Why are we still waiting for good cellular coverage?

VC is pretty crap here by me in Edgemead. No signal in study, 1-2 bars elsewhere on this property.
 
You can stick a sky scraper in my yard if it means I get decent coverage inside my house :D
 
TM has LTE in my area, can't use it though :mad: otherwise I'm pretty happy with coverage here.

VC and MTN don't seem to care :/

Great MTN & TM coverage at my place, mind you, there's an imitation pine tree about 200m away as the crow flies :)
 
No TM, no MTN, congested Cell C and poor Vodacom.

Cell C and Vodacom used to be good.

Do I live in the Karoo ?

No, this is in the middle of Joburg, a few 100 meters from Wanderers !

You aren't living in the Karoo - too much demand and takes time to erect a new base station doesn't happen overnight.

Have you tried other alternatives like installing ADSL for data etc.
 
VC is only acceptable in the highest part of house. Everywhere else is extremely poor.

Cell C is somewhat better, but reception/coverage is still mostly poor.

So I too raise my hands.

I cancelled my ADSL three years ago because my 4mbps line was slower than dial-up.

I used Cell C during this period, it worked well for two years, but then got totally congested, and effectively stopped working.

Just when I got completely desperate, and started looking at satellite solutions, my local exchange was upgraded earlier this year, so I am now using 20mbps VDSL.

But it would be nice to have some mobile internet as a backup, and also for when I travel.

Edit : And I have checked for LTE, there is no TM LTE, and only very poor VC LTE. Checked with E589 LTE mobile router, and Cell C and 8ta E3276 modems.

all the networks is fine at my home.

just vc is congested but that has been like that for ages!
 
couldn't get good vodacom coverage in my home. spoke to technical who said they will tweak the signal...no joy...so i ported to MTN and full strength!
 
Well I only get EDGE with MTN and Vodacom but full bars 3G signal on Telkom Mobile and 2 bars 3G on Cellc.

At home Telkom Mobile is the best BUT at work no coverage and only roams but MTN has full LTE signal and Vodacom 3 bars of 3G.

Basically all the networks are the same. Good in one area and very bad in another. Its hard to say that you have had good signal from 1 operator everywhere.... Its sad.

Yeah Vodacom said the same thing to me. They told me they will adjust the panel to move away from the forest and point it towards my side.... Nothing happened after a couple of months. I think the only solution is to test each network in the places where you use your phone the most and choose a operator based on that.
