simple really, the motorway plan is awesome! just took my car in for service today, 30000k one, apart from all the "usual" 30000k stuff they do, they also replaced my brake pads and windscreen wipers. price i had to pay? zilch! nada! exactly zero Rand :D
aaahh, bliss. oooh i also had a valet done on the whole car so it feels, smells and looks brand new  (ok so maybe the valet wasnt free, but still )

If you think Audis motorplan is good, you must check out BMW's ;)

BMW's motor plan - Ask no questions, just repair and make customer happy.

Oh, and they dont charge for the valet :D

I'm an Audi fan. The brand has shown such immense growth and progress over the last 30 years, amazing really.

I love their interiors, very well built cars and quattro is an amazing drive train in all conditions...

The Audi motorplan is not unique at all...

Yup, most of the big brands motor plans work in pretty much the same way. What usually differentiates, is how they handle the unexpected stuff.

Not sure whats the rave about VAG/BMW because those motorplans are the same for the past 10 years.

End of the day, doesnt matter what parts they replaced (at no charge), you need to worry if your car gets fixed as good as new.

I don't mean to drop a spanner in the works, but what happens when the motorplan runs out ? How much does the "free services" cost after the motorplan runs out ?

I happen to know someone who owns an Audi A3 1.8T whose motorplan ran out. Despite him being a surgeon, he is bitching and moaning about having to pay for the services and about how expensive they are. He's in a the process of buying a new one, inclusive of a motorplan of course, just so that he doesn't have to pay for the services. From where I stand, motorplans are nothing more than debt traps to get you to buy another car when they expire.

Now that my Audi's service plan has run out I just get it serviced elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. I'd do that with any brand though.

I'd rather ask and not state "But doesn't this affect resale value?"; especially if anyone else besides the brand's dealer services the car.

You are paying for it.... every month when you make a repayment... or if you were one of the lucky ones to buy your car cash you paid for it upfront!

Thank you for pointing this out; I knew it already of course.

I still maintain a full service history with details of all work done and they follow Audi's schedule.

However, my car is long paid off, runs like a dream and I have no intention of selling.

I buy jap.... cheap all the way. Had a service last month paid R390 all inclusive came out with freshly serviced car:eek:. Not a backyard mechanic btw. Had to wash it myself though
Have over 100 000 on the clock now. Had the major service just before 100k

Jap FTW cheap! Had VW Jetta in past OUCH!!!!!!!!! pocket got raped
German :(

Resale values are all relative, anyway. Some dealers (especially french) want to pay peanuts for their own brand despite a FSH. So why bother. I service at the dealer for as long as the warranty is valid - thereafter - I do it myself or find someone cheaper. As long as you can prove that the services were done. Keep receipts, etc.

with bmw, they will replace anything you want if you persist enough

A motorplan/freeway plan should cover every aspect of vehicle repair and maintenance other than tyres and fuel.

In addition to that I know damage to a vehicles interior may also be excluded, Audi freeway plan excludes damaged seats, cubby hole mechanisms or anything else that could have been damaged due to owner negligence, holes in the upholstery caused by sharp objects, keys, pen knife etc

Audi's interiors are generally so well manufactured that most of the time wear and tear and degradation is minimal if the owner is looking after his vehicle...
