As the title says.

My girlfriend and I have been dating for about 6 weeks now, yes quite a short time but things have moved really quickly. Within a few days of meeting each other, we started spending almost all of our time with each other. I sleep over at her house almost every night now.

Anyway, things have been going great, until recently. She seems to have become comfortable with me putting most of the effort in. I drive her around, I go to her house, I make plans only with her, we watch the TV shows she wants to watch, I remember to lookup things on the internet that she mentions in passing, I always make her tea in the mornings and sms first every day. Suffice to say, its becoming a bit one sided and I'm getting sick of it. Why is it, when you treat a girl nice, she becomes bored? Stops bothering to put effort in. What the hell? Now I need to scale back, even though I want to see her, just so that she will start to take more of an interest again and putting more effort in.

Before you ask, I understand the confidence thing. As a matter of fact, I'm very confident. She even asked me, when we started dating, how I got so confident (that sounds like a boast but its not meant to be, its just there to illustrate a point). I know girls want men with a backbone, and I have no problem with that. I do have a backbone. The thing is, up until now, I was doings the Man Way - simple and direct. I want to sms you, so I sms you. I want to see you, so I see you. It turns out that because we get on so well, I want to sms or see her pretty much all the time. But me doing that meant she started putting in zero effort.

So now I need to start doing things the female way. I need to avoid seeing her even though I want to see her, to get a point across. You cant imagine how much it irritates me, not being straight with someone, just so they wont get bored with me and find someone else. So now I dont know whether to tell her I dont feel appreciated, which might make her run for the hills anyway, or carry on holding back to see if she gets the message.

So why are women like this? Why do they want to be treated badly at least some of the time? Some, or most of the time, a girl will want to be treated like a princess. The rest of the time, she wants to be treated like dirt. The thing that gets me, is that no girl will admit to wanting to be treated like dirt. But treat a girl too nice, and she will lose interest and disappear. Guaranteed.

Look at this for a good explanation. Earlier on in that thread are some posts by me on the subject.

well you obviously love treating this girl like a princess - and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I don't think that all women are like this (the way you described). I also don't think its asking too much for the behaviour to be reciprocated. I think it all boils down to the individual. If you have to 'hold' back like you described, then surely you're not being entirely yourself! and that sucks! It also sounds like you're not showing her who you really are - and by that i refer to the fact that you almost revolve yourself around her. So this is infact almost a 'new' you and not the one she first met. Jeez, am i making any sense, lol? So perhaps thats whats turning her off a bit as she's not seeing the same person she obviously fell head over heels for at first... Its not that she wants to be treated like 'dirt' at times, but she definitely sounds like someone who's not all that attracted to subservience (perhaps not the best word to use to describe your behaviour) but rather attracted to the 'you' she first met... hope that makes some sort of sense!

Why not just mention to her that maybe she should plan things and put in a bit more effort?
IF she bitches and moans..."kick her in da panty"...
She will either realise that she needs to make an effort, or get pissy with you and thats that. Either way, I would tell her straight instead of trying to play games

A girl being treated like dirt ... is a misconception by men.

Love is CAPITALISTIC.

Women like having a man and feeling they have made a PROFIT. So if the man simulates that he is better than her through is behaviour then some women may fall for that (unless there are some extra mitigating factors that may persuade her otherwise).

Men on the otherside also like the feeling of scoring a PROFIT. I they can get a woman with all her benefits and yet still retain all the freedoms of bachelorhood which is attained only by being a bastard ... they will do it (unless they are the stupid kind with an intelligence of less than 100 IQ points).

End is. This is how it feels to everyone.

Women will FEEL like they scored a profit if they engage in a relationship with a man.

But only men will Score a REAL profit if they engage in a relationship with a woman.

Not a bad theory but I dont think its true. I'm never fake around her. I never mind doing all of these things for her. It doesnt irritate me to watch TV and cuddle with her, at all. What irritates me is when she cant take the time to come have supper with me at home. I also dont think I've changed in our relationship, at all. Remember its only been 6 weeks and we started seeing loads of each other immediately.

I'm thinking of doing this. It may be a better idea than just holding back. Its also the man way of doing things.

Yeah, do it. Hopefully she has no idea she is not putting the effort you are looking for.
I find it crazy annoying when chicks have issues but wont tell me, the same old "are you ok?" ...."yes, im fine" story. She is not gonna ready your mind, and this early in the relationship, she will probably think you lost interest in her more than anything if u back off.

I also think that age and maturity would play a role in this. Are you guys the same/similar age? I think there are times in every relationship when one party makes more of an effort than the other, but it shouldn't be one sided all the time... that being said, it's only been 6 weeks so perhaps you should speak up now rather than later as suggested.

Sounds as though she's acting like a man.

They have changed positions :D

Women don't like being treated like shyte but men that are like that are generally full of themselves so the confidence factor comes in.

Stop being nice and change the channel and tell her to shut her face you are watching your program now. If she doesn't like it she can F off. Let us know how it goes.

I dont know why, but this made me laugh quite a bit

As the title says.

I sleep over at her house almost every night now.

Without being demeaning or facetious this is the the part that stands out the most for me and needs further probing and scrutiny.
And dare I say it its the part thats probably causing the problem. It appears that the the mystery and anticipation which hightens the sexual tension has disappeared and now the relationship has nowhere to go.

Mandatory question. is there a sexual liaison?
yes-stop sleeping with her and let her loins crave for you once more.
no-stop sleeping at her house.

He will not get sex again, and she will likely think he is no longer interested. I would not take this route personally

it should be give / take from both side
you do need to speak up even if it's only in the actions you do that you gently ''push'' for a balance.

If she's your princess then you must be her prince...

/wishes I had more time to respond but must run away from here....

Tell her you want to see other people. If that does not wake her up, at least you got out before you invested too much. If she does wake up, she will have to make the effort to maintain the relationship if she is serious.

And to answer your question...Girls dont find wussies attractive.... And the guy fussing over her, and giving in to her every need is not much of a challenge to her, he is a wussy. In conclusion, Stop being the wussy and start being the man. She must enjoy being with you, not enjoy being doted on by you. When you figure out the difference in the last sentence, you will have mastery my son. Please dont listen to those advising you to withhold sex.... that only works if you are a girl. She will have other options.

Maybe give her some space. Spend some time with friends or something, sounds like you might be too clingy.

Finally some good advice for him. Thanks for doing all the typing so I don't have to. Stop being a Wussy!!

Women like a man who can take control and show them a good time without asking what that is.

The secret to a healthy relationship/lifestyle in general is balance.

Right now it seems you have unidentified that you are the one "putting in all the effort".This talk of "ladies don't find nice guys attractive" is just non-sense. It's not that the ladies don't like being treated nice, you are doing a wonderful job at that (looking at what you described in your first post). As ChilliGirl stated a relationship is give/take. Talk to her about this. Do not go down the route of making it seem that she is the problem. "Tackle the problem not the person" as they say. Help her through this, suggest things to do. It could start with something easy as "From next week on your making the morning tea". Once she starts doing her share of the "work" she will get a better appreciation of what you're doing for her. Every relationship takes time to develop and you guys are only 6 weeks in so chill. Even if you are moving fast take the time to solidify the basics of your relationship.

Ok, my advice is to be truthful and honest with her. Tell her how u feel, she might not realize that shes not putting in the effort because she has grown acustomed to you being the one that does everything. This is the only way u will win. What's the worst that could happen? She dumps u? Then thank god because she isn't the right kind of girl for u. If on the other hand she understands, then she will most likely be great full that u were honest with her and ur relationship will get stronger with her.
