SA + Nigeria + Brazil + Argentina + Chile + ... can add up to a substantial market kingrob. And then RIM still has a major share in their traditional markets and there will always be those who will not jump to other makes. I honestly don't see the demise of BlackBerry. And now that the Indian government is at peace with RIM watch that market.

RIM's new tablet (PlayBook) - to be released early in 2011 - will pair with a BlackBerry phone to use BIS-BES to access the internet (no additional data subscription required and all data usage is free). That is a very attractive solution for me, and I'm sure for many others. RIM is also working on the integration of more functionality into the BlackBerry Messanger (BBM) service. There's a lot of exciting stuff coming. Those waiting for the BlackBerry funeral may well die before the expected funeral.

I can't *wait* for the Playbook! I think most BB owners would rather get a Playbook that any other tablet PC. Have you any idea how many millions of BB users there are right now ... ?

The iPhone is way too expensive. The more people get Blackberry's, the more other people will want them so they can BBM their friends etc. The 8520 is going to do some serious damage.
Percentage-wise, not absolute numbers. Take a look sometime at how many people in SA have cellphones.

That was sad a) to be facetious, and b) when I thought my anti-BB propaganda was working better then what it seems to have. I will say this - it's now costing us a R100 per month extra, going from her Nokia E71, to have a phone that doesn't completely suck.

Well... She wanted an 8520 - which sucks. So I initially thought I'd get her a new 9300 - which also sucks. I then decided to get the Bold, which sucks a little less as far as my google-fu seems to stretch.
Must say I've only barely switched the thing on & my eyes are bleeding. 480x800 AMOLED on the Desire FTW! :twisted:
Her Bold will show it's strenghts when she starts to use that awesome keyboard, BIS and BBM. Only by pushing them hard will one learn to appreciate them. BlackBerrys don't show their beauty to those staring at them.

I don't think there is really that much of a worthwhile difference between the 9300 Curve and the Bold is there?But seriously - did I at least get the other half a BB that sucks as little as possible?
bwana, I also don't see the 9300 as an inferior device, especially when one considers the price difference. The bigger screen is nice, but for most not worth the extra money. Personally, I'll always choose the Bold above all the other BB models, but I won't mind using the 9300 at all.
