Why do we have Affirmative Action?

So addressing racism of the past with racism of today is going to help?

AA is racist in every form, no matter how you disguise it.

It works dude, you haven't given us better solution.

It works dude, you haven't given us better solution.

And why should I? Do I look like I was elected to parliament or government to do that job? I do my job and they do theirs. Being a bigot was not part of their job description.

Now just admit that AA is completely racist. And that everyone forcing its implementation should be labelled as such.

Oh, and no it doesn't really because it is so badly conceived that it allows for a large amount of liberties taken when interpretting this law. Its not a matter of putting a person of colour in the job because when choosing between two EQUAL candidates on happens to be black. No, it allows for any underqualifed person to be placed in that position because of their skin colour - that is racism to the extreme. This system is so open to abuse, if it wasn't so tragic it would be funny.

Furthermore, the absolute insistence of the goverment for "change for the sake of change" forces people to do exactly what I have described above as they have no choice in the matter.

Actually, I meant proof that the darkness could be atributed to AA senior managers at Eskom.
Anyway, here is a list of their Exco and MDs - --- M Adam, E Johnson, B Nqwababa, S Lennon, M Letlape, I du Plessis, B Dames, E Matya...

Nqwbaba being an finance guy has got little to do with electricity generation, distribution etc.
Letlape being HR again has nothing to do with generation, distribution, etc.
Of the 8 senior executives at Eskom, which ones do you think are responsible for the black outs... do the maths

This entire post proves your ignorance. I am not going to go try to educate you as to the role of financial directors or point out your blatant hypocrocy relating to EXCO decisions.

Its racist! Are you happy?

That doesn't solve the problem right?

Their job might not have been to be bigots.

But in order to do their job it unfortunately means they have to be bigots.

Just cause it doesnt work for you, doesnt mean its not working. LOL

Oh its working great for me, in fact I am benefitting as the token white person. I'm the only white person employed at my company to make up that quota.

However, in a country where corruption is rife this kind of law only plays into the hands of the ill-educated and wrongly employed people. Honestly, give fire to a child and it will burn itself.

So to address 100s of years of racism we should employ racist policies? Is that what you're saying. MAKE THEM PAY! That kind of thinking happened in Europe at the Versaille convention, didn't work out so well for them in 1939 though. But then again, an abused child is more likely to grow up an be an abuser. I guess they just don't know any better than to try alternative methods.

Wrong again, strategic decisions are made at Exco level, the CEO is also part of that, the CEO hardly makes unanimous decisions...that's the point of having an EXCO...

Oh yes, i also noted there are a few of them too.

The White ones are all overseas in their own countries .

They have nothing to do with the actual running of the company.
They are figureheads.

Err...maybe you can try and let's see how far you can get...
either way you cannot blame 3 individuals for being incompetent amongst a committe of 8....a comittee that is clearly not dominated by AA MD's

I know it's not fair to direct this at you as you were not the one that came up with stupid example of Eskom...to tell you the truth I also thought all the senior managers at Eskom would be black and I myself,
was a bit taken aback by the discovery. So let's stop perpetuating lies on the forum and stick to the facts....

Wrongfully employed people are still employed people:)

Sometimes you gotta take a few steps back to actually go forward in the long run.

Nobody is saying "Make the white people pay", nobody is imposing the same levels of injustice on the white people as experienced in apartheid. And if they really wanted to, you know they could.

It works dude, you haven't given us better solution.

A better solution is a free market with no competition in the labour markets .Blacks start their own companies .Whats wrong with that why must the whiteman create the work and then pay tax but then be told who they can and cannot employ.

Africans help your damn self

Sometimes you gotta take a few steps back to actually go forward in the long run.

Not when the few steps back take you over that cliff edge you so desperately tried to surmount.

And if we take a look at the Eskom argument at the moment we can see that wrongfully employed means quite a bit. I'm afraid those few steps back, that you talk about, have caused us to fall over - and we're never going to go forward.

With a White backlash that will make Darfur look like a sunday school picnic?
