I'm not one to beat the bush ok so will just say it. Do you think perhaps so many people are targetting him because we're so used to murderers and rapists walking free? Could this be why we have judged him already lock and key? Just trying to draw a parallel between the frustration we have with rife crime and gunning for this guy even before his trial began we sentenced him. Maybe there are other factors which cause South Africans to shoot first ask questions later. Anyway why not thread is why not. Your thoughts?

Things being fed to the press make him sound like he did it on purpose, from the very beginning.

The other reason is that he is white, and in an attempt for white people to not seem racist (whether we are or not), and appear as tough on crime across the board, we have come down on him particularly harshly, and very quickly. Especially amidst speculation that we wouldn't do so by the usual suspects. They thought that there would be more sympathy for him because he has no legs, but apparently not.

The reason many black people would come down on him just as harshly is also because he is white, and famous around the world as a white south african. A rare opportunity that they are not going to turn down.

Because if the cops fsck up any more, no court is going to...:p

Oh I don't know maybe because he's an alleged murderer? Why shouldn't we judge him?

Whether through gross recklessness or malicious intent, Oscar killed an innocent woman. He is a hazard to society and belongs in jail. It's that simple.

We are sentient creatures. It's what we do - from IOS users to alleged murders - we formulate opinions and Judge accordingly. This phenomenon is everywhere - not only with Oscar.

His whole story does not compute on any level. My gut tells me he's guilty as hell. He committed this crime in a moment of rage. I will however let the court proceedings play out and go with what comes from it. I do however think he is fscked beyond any point of return and we are gonna see that from the court proceedings. I'm willing to bet money on it, if I'm wrong then I will apologise.

For what?

"Oscar, really sorry that I assumed you murdered Reeva a little differently to how it actually happened. Initially I thought that you were a cold-blooded, heartless, prick. Now I realise that you're a cold-blooded, heartless, stupid, prick who just randomly fires his weapon at people when he feels vulnerable. Please accept my humble apologies for assuming that you're not the mental equivalent of toe-jam. Yours truly. Ponder..."

Well...

He shot someone on the other side of a locked door (locked from the inside)... with only a 600x600 mm window (on the second floor) as a possible entry point... while apparently (according to Oscar himself) the balcony door was wide open.
(according to the law, that in itself is a crime, even if it was an intruder - the alleged attack was not immanent, unlawful and mortally dangerous)

Cops were called earlier to the scene because of a domestic disturbance, fighting so loud the neighbors thought to call the police.

a history of bad gun manners... including reports of handling a firearm in a public area and accidentally discharging it.

a history of intimidation and even violent outbursts

I don't know about you... remove the fact that the victim was his girlfriend, and it still makes a compelling case EVEN IF IT WAS AN INTRUDER.

Damn straight I judge him... unfit to own a firearm, and an accident waiting to happen.

as for the murder charges... A high court judge will have to sort that one out.

ASIDE

was following the court proceeding earlier today (day 2)
The defense did a good job of making the investigating officer seem a little incompetent.

however... what wasn't adequately explained or refuted to my liking was the legs/no legs situation. Cops say preliminary examinations reveal the height of the bullet holes on the door to be at around the door lock height (between 800 and 1000mm off the ground), and the bullets entered the toilet bowl... now that's lower any way you cut it. So you don't need a forensic expert to tell you that the bullets were fired from a greater height of 1000mm.

that means Oscar was not truthful in his sworn affidavit... which... doesn't win many hearts and minds.

Sorry lads... I was an Oscar fan leading up to Beijing 2008, but not when these rumours started circulating. If it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, quacks like a duck... it's not a dove.

I said if I'm wrong. I'm 99.999% certain I'm not so it's not gonna happen as far as I'm concerned, but I like playing devils advocate at times.

You're picking on the wrong guy here.

Nah, I'm saying that even if you're wrong and Oscar's story is accurate, there is nothing to apologise for because the only difference would be that he went from being a psychopathic murderer to a paranoid, knuckle-skulled murderer. I don't see why apologising for anything is warranted...

True, but I'll still not be wrong :D

Bottom line I ain't apologising, just not gonna happen.

Rather than be humble because of his disability he is arrogant and entitled. A bad guy. Think he is above the law, gun fantic for now good reason hell he even bought 2 white tigers and 3.5 million car and numerous motorbikes he has written off, a speedboat he wrote off presumably drunk, possessive over women threatening others who compete for their affection. Being in a few photo ops with disabled kids doesn't make you a good guy.

Also although this is not a good reason on my part before he ran in London 2012 he was already super rich and living extravagantly because of the special olympics. I have this fairytale picture in my head that special Olympics is about competing and self worth and not about commercialization. He is the guy that made me see that disabled people could be materialistic *******s as well.

It's not because he is a famous sportsman or that I enjoy seeing famous people fall. If Roger Federer (has South African mom) did the exact same thing I would not nearly be as judgmental because he's a good guy.

I judge him for his admitted callousness towards another human by firing though the door. That is the biggest issue I have now, although that may change with evidence.

The fact that he admitted that he didn't look out for the girl he was "in love" who was supposedly in the bed, with before firing into the loo does not make me respect him much either. I would get my girl to safety before I started going rambo.

The rest: we should all await the proof.

he killed someone

and in how he explains the events, in a way a number of people think is not consistent with common sense

That is the first thing any reasonable man would do, secure those close to you. Not him.
