Well I'm in a stable relationship so I've already found what I'm looking for
But in my younger days I didn't have the patience for making an effort and would have been better off going home alone to a jar of vaseline (sorry for the overshare

) than to sit and make idle chatter hoping that something might happen.
More often than not you end up stumbling into someone who you think is worth more than a one-nighter and at that point you realise that they don't even meet most of your "must have" criteria in the first place.
Moral of the story - the more you make an effort to look for someone, the further away you end up from actually finding them. If times are bad and you're still best friends with your hand after five years, then perhaps the problem lies within and you need to re-evaluate the way you're living your life.
