Had a good chuckle with my parents last night about the R11500 they've saved getting off a year ago.

No, the point is it has nothing to do with being able to or not handling a rather minor matter such as DRS.
The SABC simply can't afford to pay for the feeds required, that is all.
When it has access to a feed, the coverage is as good as that of MC.
Comparing the local studio commentary between that provided by SABC and MC? Well as far as I am concerned both sources of local commentary are pathetic rubbish.

The only issue is the MC value proposition. There is no value proposition. Quantity of channels does not equate to quality.
The MC service quality is on a downward spiral to mediocrity, which probably means nothing to the masses anyway.
The latest decoders are pathetic pieces of consumable junk compared to the originals.

The SABC is run by fools, buffoons and idiots and the staff is no better. So their inability to perform the simpliest of tasks together with the fact that they're bankrupt clearly disquilifies them from acting remotely in a professional capacity, similar to ESkom, SAA, etc.

Last year it was Con Air. No unseen footage yet.

Hoping by the next time someone plays Con Air there will be some unseen footage.

I'm not talking about access to a feed. If Sky/Fox/Sony are filming an English/Australian/Indian match, then obviously the same feed will go to Supersport or SABC, whoever buys it. But for events that happen in South Africa, the broadcaster has to film the event themselves. They can't buy a feed from Sky/Fox/Sony.

Look at the Mzanzi Super League from last year. I know the SABC did a decent job given that the entire tournament was organised at the last minute. But the production quality and lack of DRS made it less pleasant to watch than, for example, a T20I where Supersport is in charge of production (and provides Hawkeye/Ultraedge).

You are being very unfair, as like in any organisation, there are still pockets of highly skilled people and the SABC (as is MC) is no different.

The fact that we chose to put an organisation such as the ANC in charge of the country is the problem, not the institutions themselves.

Political parties are essential institutions of democracy.

Political institutions are the organizations in a government which create, enforce, and apply laws.

Had a chuckle with my mom last night about the 11500 we are spending a year to watch new Afrikaans series and HD sports with no hassle.
