Please provide examples. Bloatware is usually a manufacturer thing and not Windows, and easily uninstalled, unlike bloatware on smartphones that can't be uninstalled (easily).

Never had that one before.
There's a button to disable the Edge pop-up, never had to do it on the Pro version of Windows, only on the lone Home install. You'd have to go on and on.

With Windows 10, a clean install stays that way for about two minutes, because the second you hit the desktop, the Microsoft Store immediately starts trying to download third-party apps and games. And these apps keep trying to install themselves even after you cancel the downloads

Can't say I've noticed those. As I almost never use Edge I'm sure I'd remember them if they happened as you say. I've never seen an app automatically install or install in any way without me specifically installing it.

Maybe after all those porn viruses you might have you should format and do a clean reinstall.

We can both agree that things could be better done, but the execution of such an undertaking is a messy one. Microsoft is trying their best, no doubt.

I just installed Windows 10 Pro 1804. On the list of bloatware:

  • Dolby Access
  • MSN News (Guys, it's deprecated, it doesn't even get updates!)
  • Drawboard PDF
  • Autodesk Sketchup
  • Minecraft
  • Solitaire Collection
  • Candy Crush Soda Saga
  • Disney Magic Kingdoms
  • Bubble Witch 3 Saga
  • March of Empires: Warlords
  • Mobile Plans (no local support)
  • Mixed Reality Viewer (no hardware support)
  • Connect (Wireless adapter does not support Wi-Direct to other displays)

It's not bad, but the King.com games are annoying. Those should not be on a "Pro" version of an OS.

And all of these things are currently updating, so it's not like I can do anything until that completes.

Wow that's a lot. I am actually planning on completely removing Skype by the end of the week, already gave friends notice and all have moved over to other platforms now bar one, Skype's new UI is atrocious.

Yeah, luckily you can still use the desktop version and avoid the UWP one. Just run the installer in compatibility mode for Windows 8.

Have installed windows on a couple of machines and could immediately uninstall all the crapware. In fact they, weren't installed until you open them. I don't use anything from the app store and have NEVER had anything install itself. Sounds like the problam is between the keyboard and chair again.

I can immediately uninstall them too, and only a few are actual installations that take up space. However, Windows 10 has an intermittent bug in the Start menu where you can uninstall one of the pre-installed applications before it gets a chance to update, and the Store app either reinstalls it, or leaves a shortcut stuck in the Start menu that keeps on adding itself back in. The solution is to either reinstall that app, let it update, and then uninstall, or install something something else and let the Store app update the app manifest for the Start menu.

This happens a lot for games installed through the Store. License issues also cause this, and installing a different application will force a licence refresh that fixes it. I had to do this several times for my Forza 7 review.

Congratulations, you've avoided the worst thing about Windows 10. On this point, have you ever tried to uninstall 3D Builder?

Discord and Telegram.
Discord also has a quick screen share option like Skype, which was the main reason I stayed with it, though I do use Team Viewer often enough now to permanently have it open. Sound quality seems to have also improved on Discord (or at least other people's microphones...).

The Discord overlay in games is still great if you have a 4+ person group, it's also good for work chats as we can separate everything into different channels (also seems to use a heck of a lot less resources then Slack, which just kept getting laggier and laggier even though we all have quite beefy machines, especially when we had more than one workstation).

For "mass" presentations where you don't want to be interrupted by others but still want to interact via IM, Team Viewer meetings is great, otherwise use YouTube's ultra low latency but I find that still has ~3-4 seconds of latency as we don't seem to have good servers in South Africa (in Austria I had maybe a second delay?).

Currently I only have one Slack workstation open, each is about another 200MB if added, Discord I am in a voice channel with 5 servers currently open, the voice channel has about 10 people in it (I am currently muted though, so that might affect CPU usage).

Skype uses even less resources, but Discord is more feature rich so I can forgive it, plus I have yet to experience lag in it.

EDIT2: Just realized there are more slack processes further down...
Minimized both, Slack adds up to about 300MB RAM, Discord 102MB with voice chat still ongoing.
