Why I love being a dad

So how is the divorce proceeding? Do I remember you had issues with her parenting?

We're divorced, we're living together until the end of the year because it's easier and our son loves both of us. she is a great mom, but she is still acts like a teenager sometimes. she also does a lot for me, we do care about each other, but i feel sad when i offered her a chance to live with us and be with her son permanently, she said yes at first, then no later because she met a guy. when the guy wasn't interested in her she wanted to live with us again.

i don't have time for that, so i'm buying a house at the end of the year and she can do what she likes. i'll always see her and make sure they get to see each other and sped time together

Ahhh people gushing about their kids *yawn*

kids change you man, i never wanted a kid and i was pro-choice too until i had my son, now all i wish i could do was have more. if i was a bit better off i'd like to have adopted

So did you get custody of your son ?

Yeah you childless ignorant youngsters. One day your girlfriend or wife will tell you she's pregnant and you'll go, "how did that happen / how's that possible?" ( with an amazed and bewildered stupedo look on your face)

Yeah look I have heard that, I just dont think its for me. Im 33 now and I dont see it happening anytime soon, my wife feels the same way.
The way I see it there are 3 types of people:
Those that will be great parents
Those that will be great uncles/aunts
Those that should *never* have kids

Im in the great uncle boat. I dont doubt I would be a great dad but its just not something I want. Im glad though that peoples kids bring them pleasure.

edit: I didnt mean my comment to be snarky, just getting bombarded lately on facebook by everyone carrying on about their kids.

Conversations with my 3 year old son

Me: I love you son.
Son: Me too.

*Give my son a kiss*
Son: Hey, why did you do that!?!

*Son and I are eating McDonalds*
Son: Dad, look at me, I'm happy!

*Take him out of the shower*
Me: Son, run to mommy so she can dress you
Son: No.
Me: If you don't go you'll get cold
Son: No.
Me: If you go to mommy she'll make you a milkshake and put on a movie for you
Son: No.
Me: If you don't go and get dressed beetles are going to come and bite your totie
*Son runs off*

*Had my teeth pulled out earlier that day, driving home*
Son: Dad, are you angry at the doctor?

*Kid at his creche comes and gives me a hug*
*Son marches over to him with fists on his waist*
Son: Hey, that's MY daddy!

Every day he make me so happy

Lovely, The joy's of fatherhood. It brought a smile to may face. Makes me think back of very fond memories myself.

I'd recommend staying away from it, expensive, constant stress, sleepless nights, lose certain hobbies, but if it does happen to you, you'll love it :)

The world needs more great uncles

And here i'm teasing you in other threads when I know you're a great guy :p

That's sad. What a pity. I hope the best for you and your son in future.

i love singing with my 4.5 yr old son when driving.

songs like:

Kryptonite-3 doors down
save tonight-eagle eye cherry
cotton-eyed joe is pretty difficult

he loves michael jackson stuff now. when he first watched the BAD video he asked "Dad, why is that guy bad?"

He loves smooth criminal. his playlist is evolving all the time.

LOL @ "how did that happen" - how do you think Einstein is the usual reply.

But yeah, I have 3 kids and it's the most incredible experience of your life IF you're into it (and you have that space within yourself).

If you don't then I guess it could just be painful.

Kids are great.
