Why i wouldn't vote DA

agree with this too, that is why they will win on votes from people like this.

however remember that the violence of apartheid is something people cant forget. and until another party makes them realise that they have nothing to fear, they will vote ANC.

ride in a taxi or on a bus one day and hear the conversations that go down. its easy to judge people's decisions when you sitting in front of your PC at work, that you drove to in your car, getting paid to be on this forum, in your nice clothes sipping coffee......

We need a stronger opposition party that appeals to the nation

Just remember Helen does get involved on the ground. Unfortunately her actions are limited to mainly Cape Town, hopefully after this election that can change.

Well you can't please everybody.

Naledi Pandor isn't a good education minister because of the fake accent.

Patricia de Lille likes to ride the winds of others change too much.

Helen Zille strikes the fear of a modern-day Miss Rottenmeier into you.

Jacob Zuma is waaay to ambiguous and a chronic people pleaser (at their own expense or otherwise).

Funny thing is we all know about the DA's campaign but I personally had not heard or seen anything from the ID. They might as well not be running in the election. BTW I think the "STOP ZUMA" campaign is brilliant. The whole election and future of SA is contained in these two words.

I think the stop zuma campaign is desperate and pathetic.
You want people to vote for your party because they believe you can do something for them.
Why don't they have a stop zuma party, see how many votes they will get...

Look at the facebook groups, there are around 100k people in the groups that are against Zuma, most of them young adults,do think 25% are even going to vote?DA should be concentrating on getting the young vote.
It's simple enough to sit and complain about how to stop zuma when so little people are even going to bother voting.

I honestly can't reason with someone like you. Now you won't vote because it must be rigged, where do you get these wild accusations from all of a sudden?

I wasn't speaking to you.

Anyway, two words sum up the ANC. Jacob Zuma. They will get anything going their way.

I am not voting, because i've stated before there can never be a true country at peace, when the ANC is in the mix.

The OP's attitude stinks, look at previous elections...

Highest turnout was 1994, with strongest opposition at 3million votes. 1999 less of a turnout for ANC and opposition, but opposition votes were heavily decreased, increasing ANC majority. 2004, even less of a turn out then the previous year, ANC increases majoirty..

DON'T YOU GUYS SEE? WE HAVE TO VOTE TO GET ANC TO HAVE LESS POWER, IF NOT LEAVE

As I said before, she is a great mayor, I think she won an international award? not sure, but I have heard something.

If they do more ground work, they could get more votes. Still does not change what they have already done with Stop Zuma

So if I'm voting ANC or not voting I should leave to where?

Being trying to drive this point through to many people,

Every vote that is not cast for oppositions means the ANC has the majority of seats in parliment. And Julius Malema wants to fire the entire UCT staff, so guess where the country is heading?

Of course, frankly they are all pathetic! But come on, choose the lesser of two evils, I mean holy crap, are you denying that not voting leads to increase in ANC? If not, go and vote for the strongest opposition, DA or COPE!

At least the ANC has to work with DA/COPE in order to mend or change laws, instead of, if they had 2/3 majority, needn't consult anyone and do whatever!

Instead of Zille and the DA obsessing on stopping Zuma, they should tell South Africans what you have just told us and concentrate on that. I was very angry when Zille unveiled the stop zuma campaign, that shows me that she doesn't have a strategy to win votes. South Africans must be educated and motivated to vote, but what you see is that less and less south africans vote and the opposition get less votes while the anc and it's supporters get more votes, and all opposition parties do is bark about zuma. As far as i am concerned, opposition parties haven't done a good job at all of attracting voters, instead what they are doing is making zuma supporters even more determined to vote for zuma while most of anti-zuma supporters won't vote, thereby giving even more power to the ANC. Most poor south africans don't care about the NPA and the constitution, all they are about is if they will get free money (grants) or not, and so far i am yet to hear opposition parties emphasize grants, all they emphasize is zuma this and zuma that.

If you don't vote I don't feel you have the right to complain about things then.

Your vote that takes 10 minutes every 5 years is your chance to complain about the past 5 years or even if you are happy with the past 5 years to keep the good things going, sitting around the braai complaining about current affairs doesn't do anything. Your vote is the only way to make a difference, even if the party you are voting for won't win it at least give them more say in parliament. Every democracy needs opposition parties otherwise it is not really a democracy if the ruling party can do what they want when they want. Then it might as well be any other form of political system. Opposition parties are there to keep the ruling party in check and at least ask questions about there policies.

EXACTLY!!! Just vote to avoid giving the ANC the right to make whatever decisions they want

is it impossible for you to understand that i dont want to vote because i see no one worthy of it.

So instead in the next five years all you will do is log on to mybb and rant about the ANC's abuse of power? Although I understand that it is your right not to vote, what i am saying is that there are a lot of people like you who think that all parties in this country are crap and therefore don't deserve their votes, but what you don't realise is that anc supporters will always vote, and anti-anc supporters will not vote, some of them at least, and what happened in the last elections? the anc grabbed a two-thirds majority. It's not because the elections were rigged or some other reason, it's because people didn't vote. So i am asking you king to vote, even though we have crappy political parties, but please vote, why? so that we can take away the two-thirds that the anc has. Are you gonna vote?

Guys please :( read this and the other posts, by not voting, you are also being selfish... Other people will suffer under the hands of the ANC.
You want to change SA, use you right, its the strongest change we can bring...

They're the opposition, they oppose the ruling party (the trick is in the wording).

But if you're too lazy to read their policies and would rather just complain, I can't help you.

EDIT: what does the ANC offer besides "Together we can do more"???

True, they are the opposition party. However, they want to be the ruling party, which requires a mental shift during election times. They haven't been able to do this, and as a consequence their campaign has fallen flat.

I wish we can start our own campaign to get people to vote for any opposition party. Maybe go to as many websites as possible and try to convince people who are not planning to vote to indeed vote for any opposition party, so that the ANC will not win by a two-thirds majority.
