My point is that everyone (all races) stop bitching, and move on with their lives. The past cannot be changed, and blaming people will not contribute anything in the way of progress. White people must stop blaming the current government, and try and contribute where they can towards the future. Black people should stop blaming the past, they have the opportunity now to shape a better future. If everyone has a common goal in mind, we can all get along fine. EOS.

I think this may be the problem africa is facing the most..

They are illusioned to think they are on equal grounds with europe, only because europe was present during their colonisation some centuries ago.

Africa is a continent still very much in disarray. No matter how early you exposed them to the New world etc. etc. they didnt have structure through which they could build from.

Like people say, there wasnt even a wheel when the europeans arrived here. And now- africa wants to become a democracy. When they dont have the ability to sustain their own people without international aid relief.

Japan Industrialised in less than 50 years... Africa will take forever to adapt if they dont start from within - I think what zimbabwe is doing might be the right track. Although the fact remains they are still exporting minerals to europe, making them more valuable than ever.

I am not sure which Zimbabwe you are referring to here. The Zimbabwe that I know is certainy not on the right track at all, economically speaking or morally and politically speaking. Your entire post was ruined y that last sentence!

The point is that there were several successful African countries pre-colonialism. Remember, "successful" in pre-colonial times. This does not mean inventions etc. which, in Europe, were a result of the New World etc. which Africa had not been exposed to yet. Africa was largely exposed to the New World when Europeans came to colonise Africa. Africa has been exposed to the New World for a much shorter time than that of Europe.

Pure and simple, the underlying factor to all the problems in Africa is greed. Look at all the resource rich countries that are ravaged by civil war. You have these "leaders" who try hold on to all the wealth for themselves and there top lieutenants. They'll happily sell of the mineral rights to wealthy western companies, and won't give a stuff up about the people of their nations.

Instead of getting off their rear-ends and doing some hard work, like Europe or Japan did after the WWII they sit around using one excuse after the next about how they where oppressed, or exploited or “robbed” of wealth. Boo-hoo cry me a bloody river. All those crying about the slave trade, how many of you can say that you or your mommy or daddy or brother, sister, aunty, uncle, son or daughter was taken off recently as a slave? Come on put your hands up! Oh none of you. Ok how many of you know someone who is involved in the slave trade? Hands again please. Oh still none. Sorry this really busts my hump when people are unwilling to accept responsibility for their own lives and situations and look for excuses and someone to blame for it, especially when they try blame something that happened more then a 100 years ago.

Blaming exploitation, slave trade or colonialism is a cop-out. All that labour (read slaves) that build the west is available to African countries. The exploitation in terms of mineral and resource wealth only happens because of the greed of the those in power, they can stop the exploitation should they wish, but for $200mil they will rather let their own country and people suffer and live in luxury. Colonialism brought as much good to Africa as it took away, all the inventions and technology of the "civilized" world to Africa.

Africa is failing coz we want to do things the Western way. Their way is always right. So if we don't have the "civilized" things, we are failing according to the western standards. I guess we (Africans) just have to go with the program. I believe everything started as an idea, and using the right powers to instill that ideology into other people's heads to believe in it.

Sure, but its like saying non-whites in South Africa still have a right to be pissed at whites about apartheid. Learn from the past yes, but it really isnt worth their while to exclude themselves from the western world.

I think Robin Hood (who I have told him time and time again why it was not needed) could learn a bit from these two posts - he expects Africans to have uplifted themselves, invented things, being technologically advanced etc. prior to colonialism.

Well.. there are two sides

A: Those who believe it is more natural to stick to our roots and nature as that is the natural way. To not industrialize etc

B: You could also say that progression is the natural way, afterall we progressed from next to nothing into what we are today. Nature supports progression. Human survival in the end, will depend on how much we have progressed when situations arise. At the same time we may kill nature or ourselves because we have progressed too quickly for our own good. Maybe thats also the natural order.

I don't know if the civilizations in the world that didn't progress, did it because of A, or because they didn't accomplish B. All I know is, if I get a good idea, I doubt I would be able to simply throw it away in order to accomplish A. Otherwise Medical science would not be around etc.

I think in most parts of the world, progression for the human race is a priority. They see progression as the answer.

Partly right. I would say the biggest mistake indigenous Africans made was to allow the West to bombard ideologies into our minds. We "let" the west to colonize us. That where indigenous Africans lost it.

I have no idea how those indigenous Africans were living back then. But I'm too damn sure they were happy with what they had. Like I said, there was no need for money, technology, guns, drugs, wars, bombs, cars, and all these things

Also, you won't hear the Afrikaners crying about the concentration camps where 22 000 women and children died during the Anglo boer war.
