Why is Africa a Failure?

The colonialists brought governance to Africa. They introduced it. Seems africans cannot get to grips with it.

Europeans brought governance to Africa after Europeans were exposed to it for hundreds of years. They expose Africans to it for 50 years while the Europeans exploit the land and the people to work on the land. Then they pack up and bugger off, leaving politics, decisions, lots of money etc. in the hands of the inexperienced Africans. Uh-oh, recipé for disaster.

Rofl. :D

PS. When has a black been given the chance to govern a civilised society? Apparently he/she would have been voted in for good reason if the society is civilised.

So AIDS, tubercolosis, cancer, all the major/main diseases is all caused from our food?

60%? I think not.

Cancer is mainly caused by the nuclear testing that was conducted by the superpowers.

In some explosions that they conducted ,namely Bikini Island and the Nevada dessert, nuclear radiation has a half life of 10 000 years.

That radiation is still in our atmosphere.

Radiation causes cancer.

It is speculated that burnt toast, braaivleis, smoking, the sun's radiation and food preservatives also cause cancer, but i wouln't like to speculate about that.

It's only been speculated that smoking and UV rays cause cancer?

They also introduced major problems because the country borders are not based on tribal realities, but merely how it suited the colonialists to divide up the continent.

It wasn't even that long ago when European countries were viciously fighting amongst themselves.

I personally do not believe that.

The Voortrekkers (my ancestors) smoked anything they could lay their hands on.

They even went to Natal to get the green stuff.

They were in the sun all day.(lots of lovely uv rays)

They lived a long and healthy life.(In the sun)

Yes they brought it in the form of Eurocentrism, Ethnocentrism and all supported by a false sense of superiority.

Basically just small minded people with way too much control over their charges, who exploited their power bases and manipulated the situations for their own personal gain, policies and politics.

They of course trained their charges very well, so we now have the same thing only with different people.

Eurocentrism:
Eurocentrism is the practice of viewing the world from a European perspective, with an implied belief, either consciously or subconsciously, in the preeminence of European (and, more generally, of Western) culture, concerns and values at the expense of non- Europeans. Eurocentrism is an instance of ethnocentrism, especially relevant because of current and past European colonialism and imperialism. Eurocentrism typically involves assuming that non-European cultures have fundamentally similar worldviews and values.

Ethnocentrism
Ethnocentrism is the tendency to look at the world primarily from the perspective of one's own culture. Ethnocentrism often entails the belief that one's own race or ethnic group is the most important and/or that some or all aspects of its culture are superior to those of other groups. Within this ideology, individuals will judge other groups in relation to their own particular ethnic group or culture, especially with concern to language, behaviour, customs, and religion.

The sad thing is many still suffer with these afflictions.

Interesting perspective!

Um, I think the Europeans were not-so-politely told to leave. Basically leave or face another Mau Mau uprising. The remaining African leaders were too "arrogant" to ask, at the very least, to be left with some instructions about how the whole system works. :/

Yup. One big balls up from all sides. What needs to be realised now is that it is what it is. Get busy fixing or wallow in the past and stagnate I'm afraid.

It has been mentioned that our resources, say gold is drained from the country.
If all the gold stayed in South-Africa, what would it contribute to the people if they kept it to themselves? Seriously, I don't understand how trading the gold harmed South-Africa in any way? The little bit of resources that left RSA when the English still rules RSA did no harm to Africa.
Furthermore, if the NP did not mine it and use the money to build RSA up, Zuma and friends would have stolen it today like the Mbeki and friends stole the Platinum for their own benefit.
It is my personal opinion that the black culture lacks the inclination to plan for the future and to defer benefit to a later period for a greater reward. The inability to do a job better and beyond what is expected (and here the whites are just as guilty) is another factor. Currently fulfilling your duty in a half-assed manner is the norm. Where is the drive to better yourselves people?

The same people that will be living in Africa in years to come, when Africa will be a prosperous continent. :)

Dear postmanpot, this is my second response to your above posting. The first (and one other on this topic) have been removed/deleted by the mods. So be it. But bare with me for a mo. I have a point to make. I cannot enter into a debate with you because whenever I respond or counter your pro-African stance/view by presenting incontestable facts that may not adhere to the moderator's wimpish interpretations of political correctnes, they see fit to remove/delete my responses and impose an infraction on me. (I have had 3 so far and a number of postings arbitarily removed without any comment). Consequently the debate becomes pretty much one-sided. IMO when we reach a point in any discussion/debate/forum where political correctness nullifies the opposing view and prevents the lucid and factual expression of a contrary point of view to be aired, openly and honestly, the entire excercise becomes a farce. I do attempt at all times to avoid personal attacks, foul language and/or blasphemy in my responses (now and again I do slip up) but if my opinion is abolished and deleted purely on the grounds that what I present is not considered politically correct phrasing, there is absolutely no point in me or anyone who shares my views expressing an opinion at all. But then perhaps my stance is not clear enough. I am not attempting to convert anyone to my way of thinking. I am merely expressing an opinion and just because whoever does not like or agree with it, I feel is hardly valid grounds on which to pretend it does not exist, by erasing it. If you can't stand the heat, you should not be in the kitchen, I reckon. (But that is just my opinion and that's if you even get to see this posting.)
