Why is Blackberry Internet so slow?

It doesnt seem to have hit rock bottom yet. :(

D/L speed is 12.81 Kbit/s
 
Now, with my Storm showing full signal 3G/HSDPA, I got 12.5 Kbits/s download and 17.5 Kbits/s upload. Yes, upload quicker than download. Isn't this slower than good ol' fixed-line dialup?
 
I have a Blackberry Bold on the vodacom blackberry package which comes with unlimited surfing from the blackberry browser. Why is the internet so slow on this?

If i manually set my APN to internet (which means i get charged for surfing) the internet is so much faster? This phone is sold as having 7.2MBps HSDPA however we are not able to use this feature unless we pay for it?

I feel that this is very unfair seeing that i am using a blackberry package with a blackberry phone.

BTW my signal coverage is excellent.

Mine is crawling. Barely operational. Mail attachement retrieval also seems like it has hit the wall.
 
I logged a call to the data help desk this morning and they said that there were no reports of any issues. I have a blackberry storm and I ran the speed test sop which told me my maximum download rate was a pathetic 3.3kbps while my upload rate was a staggering 51kbps.

Would love some feedback from VC regarding this.

I must have logged 4 or 5 calls in the last 2 weeks without any luck.
I'm using a Bold and the highest speed test I ever got was 20kbps but the average is between 4 and 7.
 
I have had internet speed problems before on my Bold but lately its been fine throughout the day. I have downloaded a few files today averaging 60-70KB/s
 
Tethering the fone performs quite nicely - however its pretty crappy otherwise.
 
My partner got rid of his BB for this reason - said it was as worthless as t!ts on a goose...
