Why is this car so cheap?

Yes. The rubber belt perishes over time, so it usually gets serviced at 6 years or xx mileage, whichever first.

I stretched mine a bit because I personally think that 100k is a better benchmark, but no dealer would be willing to take that risk. My Peugeot is almost 8 years old now and just reached 100k. I'm doing mine next week.

100 000 KM is consider a decent mileage for a 5 year old car so yes it is surprisingly low

Edit :I didn't read the mileage properly and thought it said 100088KM, so i have edited the above comment accordingly.

Demand is low for Renualt Megane's, even the new one is not selling well.
 
Okay I guess I read it wrong I thought it's 10 000 km with 88. That is why I was bit shocked.

Probably a typo on the mileage.

Doesn’t really seem all that cheap to me.

I'd buy that Renault in a heartbeat. It will be so much more car for the money than your fiesta. A focus would be a good bet, but you wont find one that price with such low mileage or so new.

No surprises there ...

Its obvious the advert has a typing error ... Its not possible for "that type of a car" , 2012 year model , to have just over 10k km's on clock... 100088km

Of course it's possible. Highly unlikely though.

But yes, most likely a typo hence the suggestions to verify mileage.

2000 per year

166 per month.

possible for retired oom/tannie that only goes to the shop 5km down the road once a week.

You are wrong. For the first five years that I had my car I did way less than that.

Also, reality is people can't actually afford new cars here any more so the second hand market has a lot more demand.
