Why is Vodacom Blackberry Internet so slow?

Not sure why my speeds have improved and some on here getting such bad speeds still. Perhaps they are still busy finalizing the upgrade or ironing out some wrinkles? Lets see how it goes tomorrow.

Any chance you're connected to a Wifi network? Every now and then I run the test and get excited about the results, only to realise it's testing through my Wifi, not on the mobile network :(

after a very slight improvement earlier today the speedtest just times out now and mails to my vodafonesa email address are delayed by about 5-10 minutes

up 0.0kb/sec
down 0.0kb/sec

8:11pm

I'm not sure that the new speediest app is accurate. I did a speedtest on the old version and got ave download speed of 3.91kbs app asked me to upgrade to new version. Took about 2 minutes for a 56kb file. 5 mins later I did a speedtest with the new version and ave download 73.12. WTF there no way my speed is now at 73 as like I said it took me 2 mins to download 56kb.

Almost seems as if vodacom had a hand in the updated app to keep us from complaining. LOL.

Good Morning

Myadsl took about 25sec

It looks like it is better - time will tell

Got my brand new replacement Storm this morning from Vodacare. Speeds looking very promising indeed. Test result:

Down: 217.92 kbits/s
Max Down: 549.03 kbits/s

Up: 143.95 kbits/s
Max Up: 228.16 kbits/s

Hey Myadsl loaded in like 10 seconds... very cool, but its early. Now VD please tell us when can we expect a refund for the last 3 months services?

Thanks for update VD - but please be aware we're not all just going to disappear now - who should we contact regarding the failed service delivery on Vodacom's part over the last month or two??

I noticed that the new version of Xtremelabs Speedtest gives you the option to select 3G / EDGE as a connection method to do the test despite the device not being 3G capable.

Network Settings in the application can auto detect your association with a BES / BES service or you can even use Direct TCP as well as having a History function.

Direct link is http://www.xtremelabs.com/assets/mobile/speedtest/speedtest.jad for all newer Berry's and yes it should work on a 8100 Pearl , 8310 Curve , 8900 Curve , 9000 Bold , 9500 Storm.

I cannot test on the older Berry's sine I don't have any available to me.

Anyhow you chaps get the idea so have fun and enjoy the new speeds.

Just tested - downloaded the MXit app - awesome speed!!! :D
Well done Vodacom, about time, but well done nonetheless

Seems the expectation from vodacom is that we must just be grateful now and shut up.
I want compensation for paying for a service I couldn't use for the last couple of months.

Thanks VD for keeping us informed about the upgrade. You seemed to be the only one aware that there was a problem. BTW my storm has never worked as well as it is now and I got it since april. I'm referring to the browsing speed especially during the day.
