so I think this weekend I probably spent a total of about 3 hours outside of my house... went to watch the rugby (and we still lost! )

All I can say is, thank God I dont have a girlfriend at the moment! :D

so what, for you, makes this game so addictive?

Lets just start with saying, i love wow, i play my 3 4 or 5 hours per day somedays eve more.

WoW gives people that are nobodies in RL a chance to feel like they are legends. Raid Leaders that shout on people for the sake of shouting, dps'ers shouting at tanks for not keeping aggro, tanks shouting at dps for not managing aggro, ext, they feel like they have power, meanwhile they are just a loser behind a pc screen.

Because it's like one bladdy long HoN Game.... you spend time building up your character, and then after a while you know how much work went in

You won't stop, because you would feel like you have wasted all that time you put in. (and therefore, play even more a.k.a. "the vicious cycle")

I like it because I can stay home n save money, and Ive made some pretty good friends over the years. and now with REAL ID, I can do a server change (because Ive saved that money) because the guilds on my realm are full of sh*t (only so many top-end guilds about). and keep up with the friends I have made.

thats the main reason for addiction though, friends. facerolling through the daily while talking rubbish in /w to someone about their kids or something. that and getting your 1st kill on some b*stard of a boss :D

Naaah for me its the whole theorycrafting / math and rotations behind my character. No matter how well you know your class, you can ALWAYS learn new things everyday, if you are interrested enough to go reading up and research issues. A Good example is the Hunter that main tanked Sindragosa with his pet, and lord Marrowgar...

Killing bosses and getting the raid synergy / teamwork in place... the loot upgrade path, and the competitive nature between DPS'ers on the meters.

Every person believes his class to be the best, and yes, its all about how you play your class.

this +100000. I came back to wow after a 5month break, and naturally being rusty, I was right near the bottom of the damage meters. and missing out on 5months of gear upgrades. got my story together, and suddenly I was in the top 5 all the time. My main is a kittay, so if it was a boss fight involving moving, byebye goes my damage. so you would think. its about how you play your class. and that is addictive :D

tanks shouting at dps for not managing aggro

I nerdrage at dps about this :p

Spending 5sec using a threat lowering ability > going ape, pulling aggro and dying...Dead dps = 0 dps - freaking retards

With that being said, I agree with Pornolio :D I've been back in game for 3 months now, out tps'ing warlocks (without Taunt) due to constant need to improve every aspect of my character

I think its addictive cause of the time and effort that you put into your character, aswell as the constant want to achieve something else, like working towards a epic mount or towards getting bosses down, its a constant struggle and the rewards of joy and adrenaline when you achieve them makes it worth while.

Just my 2 cents :)

You can do what you want

I enjoy the fact that you play with mostly Human players.

You control the destiny of your character...and you can do what u want.

I also enjoy the theory and game dimensions.

I think what really also does it for me is the fact that World of Warcraft was also built on a well established Strategy game Warcraft.

dont really find it addictive anymore since i got bored of it been going few days without it now cause internet is broke and playing starcraft 2

I agree fully with Voicy.

It's Carrot on a stick. You take months/years to build your toon/s up to max. Then just when you hit max, they give new gear and new achievements. Now since you where at the top of the game with a WTFPWN toon, you now realise that to make your toon WTFPWN again you don't need to put in so much effort as you would have the last few months. You reach it, feel pretty good with what you achieved and BAM new gear an achievements.

Carrot on a stick :)

I have been playing WoW for about 4 years and every bloody time I get close to end game content they have new raids or expansions :D. Come Cataclysm I will focus on one toon only for the first year then play an alt. I always get to level cap, get borred messing around with okish gear and then move to an alt. Cataclysm will be different I also want to be at the top for a while :o

Raiding is what makes it addictive for me. I love raiding. Running instance or whatever. And I also love leveling new classes. Latest addition is a paladin and having loads of fun on her. Though I dont really like the vote kick thing with my alts. Got kicked from PoS last night after tanking and killing 2 bosses even if I only have 30k hp buffed and being over 540 defence. Yet on the trash before the tunnel the fury warrior goes. *ffs ill tank I have 50k hp!* charges in and ofc dies. And what happens? Yes i get vote kicked :/

Anyways back to point. Gearing up and becoming more powerful on your characters is the fun part. And man there is so much to do. In more then 4 years of playing wow if I mission around sometimes there are still places I discover I have seen before :O

I discovered 2 days ago the zandalar tribe island off the northwest coast of stranglethorn vale. boy did that surprise me, considering I got the explorer title however long ago :D

Yeh I know about that one. Use to go there for rep hand ins when we still raided ZG back in the day :P
