I am plain curious.

I am on uncapped simply because it gives me the option of getting something without worrying "Do I have enough cap" I game, read, view videos and download occasional stuff.

My usage the last 3 months were: 30Gb, 40Gb and this month I am at 78Gb :)

The reason this month is 78 Gb is becoz of Steam's crazy sales :)

However, Why and What do you download every month that is 500Gb? It seriously blows my mind. What do you get, why do you get it and finally where do you store it??

I earn a very respectable salary, and I cannot afford to buy a new TB drive every month for all the crap :) Which in essence is what you need to do if you download 500Gb+ every month.

Again, this is out of curiousity. Don;t flame people for their answers. I just want to know :)

Well. People download a lot of legit stuff like windows updates, like you from steam etc. Then you can download movies and series etc which depending on if you download high quality versions like blu-ray or smaller files like avi etc which can easily go into the 500Gb mark. Then to answer your other question. People download from torrents and rapidshare, megaupload etc.

Most people are quite happy to delete whatever they've downloaded after they've viewed it, documentaries, music videos etc etc...I myself like to keep it. I only delete when I seriously have to. I've got 12Tb in my system and planning to put in even more 2Tb drives (currently have 6x2Tb drives) once I bought my new case that can actually house all of these drives.

I hate deleting. Dont know how people can do that.

Replicate what you have done with the usage of a family doing about the same, it counts up nicely now when your wife does her stuff, you do your stuff, the kids find out about the internet and start using it on their own as well. If each person does just 50gb and you have 3 kids, that is already 250gb. If everyone does 100gb on their own its easily 500gb. Then once your kids are students and earn their own part time money or even high school kids does, they have their own money to buy storage with, then the storage is not a problem either.

As far as I know, the low end consumer accounts are legibly used by a family.

Yep, and the news servers. Basically when people are pulling hundreds of GB's it's going to be movies, probably in HD, and series. Also games are getting huge these days, up to 20GB and a few come out every month. Not that people who download all this stuff could actually have time to watch/play it all.. so I'm not really sure why they download it either. Maybe it's mostly students with lots of time.

i like to download stuff in HD now...4-12GB per movie...1 Gb for episode....100 MB for a trailer(got a job that downloads all trailers daily) 10 a day(30GB per month just for that).
Don't want to watch tv, i like choice...i have mythbusters, history channel, discovery etc etc...i don't watch all i skip some but it's my choice...
Just downloaded the whole Entourage from season 1-6....already watched 4 seasons in two weeks. uncapped allows me to do this :)

I do 400Gb a month...

Are you perhaps interested in donating a couple (hundred) of your leftover gigs to a 'currently disadvantaged' SA citizen?

Funny Ssung :)

Suppose me and the wife are fairly light - she just browses a bit with some music in between. Kids are too small, altho my daughter might have a WoW addiction one day, judging the way she points stuff to my wife while she plays :p

I think the series thing or shows at least are quite a BIG chunk :)

Personally that makes sense, than having to wait for stuff to be broadcasted. Hmmm might need to up my habits maybe to the 200-300Gb category :p
