Should you feel sensitive to every death? I guess not.

The recovery process has taken a tremendous amount of time, effort, and resources.

I have not seen a single animal being killed by our solar system. Maybe I'm blind.
In fact it created a new space for birds to make their nests under.

oh **** im being selfish for living, leist time i checked i dont need electricity to be alive, wow im super selfish, i should just kill myself.

ive already given you evidence of birds dying but you didnt want to read the article.

It's **** and so not worth it.

I have power 24/7, and don't get to enjoy the silence of load shedding. Nor do I have the stuff in my fridge defrosting during extended load shedding.

Sucks really. Oh well.

Second day in a row with no mains feed from CityPower, terrible weather means I am watching our system more closely, generator is on standby as well.

I mean yeah, the last 10 months I've had it, I've had 4 hours of no power, that was cause when they hooked it up, came to replace a fuse, an electrician came to fix our db and when city power came to replace the meter.

Happened to me a couple of months ago. Power never came on after loadshedding and my batteries went down to 6%. Morning brought cloud and I switched off everything until the sun peeked through the clouds and the solar just about matched the load of the house. We sat at 6% for about an hour before the clouds broke and it started climbing again.

Batteries are at 28%, solar is barely keeping the house running, no let up in the weather at the moment with rain and cloud cover so we’ll have to use the generator later.

Clouds have been thick the last couple of days, any word on why your power is out still?

Yeah it never does :(
 
I don't care anymore about iffy weather, I just overprovisioned on panels, and its been enough.

14KW of panels on the roof, and space for another 15KW if I need. Been plenty, even in crappy weather going for days.
Cheaper for me to add panels, vs adding another 10KW of battery. 10KW of storage + 14KW of panels working well for me.

And not having grid, or generator, means that if i'm wrong, theres no power till theres sufficient sun. 5 years in, I'm still good...

I would've but the council refuses to remove the trees that shade my roof where I would put them

You set you battery soc to go below 10% ?

Crickey. Don't think that's a good idea even if it's lithium

I'm not sure I understand your point. My batteries are generally set to 30% SOC so they hit load shedding at least that, sometimes I change to 40% depending on the load shedding schedule (4 hours etc). But in this case loadshedding had come and gone in the middle of the night and I still had no power from the grid so the batteries were being used and they ran down to 6% before the solar picked them up again.
