Why Windows 10 users are giving up Chrome for Microsoft Edge

Microsoft is working hard on its new Edge browser, which is overhauled and based on Google's Chromium web engine.

Not only does this increase general compatibility while browsing, it also allows for faster navigation and better integration with Google's search engine.

I wouldn't call a .5% increase a large move, considering that there are a lot moving over from W7 now that EoL is coming.
As Ockie states, that FF jump is way more interesting at 1% in a month. I keep trying Chrome for a little and going back to FF, they finally got multi tab selection working nicely, I have my theming options and its dev tools work great with grid. Only really use Chrome for Lighthouse and its mobile sizing if using an older flex project.

I know a few people who, this year, moved from Windows 10 to ChromeOS. And they're very happy.....annoyingly so.

Yeah, that was a weird mistake to have. Issue can be fixed by opting in to studies, which is the same as just installing this: https://storage.googleapis.com/moz-fx-normandy-prod-addons/extensions/[email protected] which you should rather do than enabling studies as you'll probably forget to disable it.
