Why would a Bluetooth mouse connect but not move the mouse pointer?

I have this Dell Mobile Pro Wireless Mouse MS5120W, very cool with 3 customisable buttons but it has this weird issue where on some devices when connected via Bluetooth the mouse buttons will work but it won't move the mouse pointer.
On my laptop it works fine but on my desktop and Jellyfin server only the buttons work but if I use the mouse's USB dongle and not bluetooth it will move the mouse pointer works perfectly on those computers.

Driver issue? weird quirk of this particular mouse, with BT
seen stranger where it makes a scratching noise out the PC speaker when you move the wireless mouse

only with one particular mouse luckily.

I just tried a different Bluetooth dongle on my desktop and once paired initially it worked 100% and then a few seconds later the the mouse pointer stopped moving. Very strange

Bluetooth can be weird. Would also look at the drivers first even though lately windows is solid with pulling in drivers. Could also try to remove all foreign mouse apps, have seen a few custom button tweakers breaking things. But not a lot left after that, as one would not expect the buttons to work while the pointer does not.

Because BT is just crap. Nothing but a backdoor loophole, ideal for hackers to compromise your stuff. Alternatively, the mouse is just frozen because it is so cold hehe
