As it has been stated, vaccines are very much hit-and-miss when it comes to the flu. The more prevalent strains are included in the vaccine, but you can get another strain that is not included.

I personally don't ever have flu vaccines, I believe my age group doesn't really require them. But I do believe they are effective most of the time, as well.

If you don't get your vaccines as children you could end up physically disabled or even dead. These conspiracy theories against vaccines are the reason many diseases have yet to be eradicated. As long as there are people refusing to be vaccinated there will be the need to vaccinate everyone else.

Anyone who is against vaccines (especially the more major viruses and illnesses - as I said only certain people need to have flu shots) is selfish and a danger to society.

timgaul, nice to see another media indoctrinated sheep. Do you know anything whatsoever about vaccines, or medicine, except what your home doctor and the TV have told you? Didn't think so.

If no one was ever vaccinated, then the entire world's population today would probably have immune systems capable of handling most diseases.

But noooo, today we've got an unhealthy world that needs vaccines and daily pills just to stay alive. Or at least that's what the pharmas would love for you to believe. I wasn't vaccinated as a child because I had a cold at the time. Did you know vaccinating a person while they're even slightly sick (which babies are most of the time, since they don't have fully developed immune systems) could cause them to experience an acute attack of the thing they were being vaccinated against? How about the level of mercury in vaccines that go straight to your kid's brain; not enough to cause immediate problems but many complications later on?

Ever wondered why no one complains about the price of medicine, price fixing in the pharma industry, bad doctors, etc? It's because the average person doesn't know "**** about fsck" about the medical industry. Not to mention are so mindless and scared that they accept every single thing their doctors tell them because they "know best".

Anyone aspiring to be a zoo keeper may as well become a doctor. You do the same job, with power-perks and you get paid lots more.

I am highly skeptical yes. My father-in-law has cancer and is considering various alternative treatments (including this http://www.camaa.co.za/) so it is actually a very relevant topic for me.

I haven't had the time yet, but I will read through your other links.

@Aeron - do you know what you are talking about, or are you just an uber conspiracy theorist and fringe lunatic supporter who thinks that the Illuminate rules the world and that Zeitgeist: The Movie is the best documentary ever? Whatever floats your boat I guess. ;)

Its not the media, but the results that speak for themselves. Unfortunately, thanks to some fools, there are still diseases like polio in the world.

Damn them for inventing all those dangerous diseases. First they invent time travel, then they create deadly diseases, go back in time and infect the population. After that its a quick trip back to the 20th century to sell the vaccines they had ready to go. What a clever plot.

People do complain. Regularly.

Honestly, what the hell is wrong with you people that you can't understand that the human immune system hasn't historically been exceptionally good at handling certain diseases without vaccines?

In the Middle Ages infant mortality rate was 300 deaths per 1,000 live births. In the USA today that number is 6.3 deaths per 1,000 live births.

Average life expectancy in the Middle Ages was 20-30. In the 1850s in the USA it was 45. Currently the world average is 70 years.

This is all thanks to modern medicine of which vaccines play an large part in our general health and well being. The human immune system needs to be augmented with medicine if we are not to return to the Dark Ages.

Or in your infinite wisdom do you have another explanation for these statistics?

If smallpox got out of the research labs most of the younger generation would be fooked as they were never vaccinated against it.
Places like NZ & Oz never did smallpox vaccinations.

Some people just think humanity would be better served if we were all living naked in caves with a life expectancy of 30 and an infant mortality rate of 50% grubbing for roots and berries. That way there would be no Science to dispute their God, no gubments to tell us what to do and no evil corporations selling us viagra and trying to rule the world.

LASIK is not painful. But moving on, cheap to make does not mean it has to be sold cheap. Even if by some stroke of luck this miracle cure cost nothing to discover, develop and test, there'd be nothing stopping them from licensing it. In reality they'd drop LASIK before you could say Jack Rabbit Slims because LASIK requires expensive equipment and is therefore the lower profit option.

Being islands it is much easier to control the influx of disease. It's the reason places like Australia are so fanatical about controlling the importation of animals.

Many of those that survived infancy would never reach adulthood.

Indeed, the under-5 mortality rate was about 400 deaths per 1,000 live births.

So of the 40-odd-% of people who made it past the the age of 5, some would still die before adulthood and those that did survive would only live for a further decade on average after reaching that age! :eek: (Considering I'm around about that age).
