Why You Should Not Buy A Mac

If you don't buy a mac Steve Jobs will smyte thee from a dizzy hight!

Be warned.

My reasons for not liking Macs have more to do with Steve Jobs and his Walled Garden (tm) than their price.
Walled garden? Anyone can develop for the mac. They give you the developers tools when you buy the thing.

Okay, write an app and distribute it for the iPhone. How soon before the Mac suffers the same?

As others have noted, it's a bit outdated. But I don't think it is that bad compared to a similar HP workstation:

Apple Mac Pro: $3499, 2 x 2.40Ghz Xeon Processors, 6 GB RAM, 1TB Sata Drive, ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB Graphics, 18x Superdrive Optical Drive, 64 Bit OS X

HP FF825AV: $4263, 2 x 2.40Ghz Xeon Processors, 6 GB RAM, 1TB Sata Drive, ATI Firepro V5800 1TB Graphics, 16x Optical Drive, 64 Bit Windows 7

Either way, I don't think either of these systems is intended for home users.

Hold the phone, I'd gladly pay an extra $1000 for a GPU with 1TB of RAM :D

Since I got my MacBook I've been very happy with it. I don't even touch my HP anymore.

The problem is I've installed Diablo II onto it so I'm not getting much work done...

That game - it's a frikkin time hole of note. I had to remove it, not because I didn't enjoy it, but because I realized I had lost like 48 hours of my life to it already!

48 hours man.... that really is not alot, considering how much time one could spend doing other things..... such as..... tv

True. Internet is my big time waster. But yeah, ultimately Diablo just consists of random clicking and stuff.

Guess Mac conversions are keeping old games like those alive. I wonder if Diablo 3 straight off from the start?

Well Blizzard has released all their games for Mac and PC, plus they usually are very forgiving in terms of minimum requirements, so yeah I expect to see Diablo III for Mac on day 1.

I play a racing sim called RFactor. If it could run on a Mac, i'd buy one. Except for that, everything else I do on Windows I can do on a Mac. The essential trick here is that similar hardware on my Windows Desktop would cost double to triple the price for an equivalent Mac.
