I recently got the Deco S4 3pack for R2599. Very happy with it!
Used to have two extenders and endless hassles. Now all is running 100%

Do you guys reckon in an 2 bed 70m2 apartment type environment (where one has to contend with neighbours Wi-Fi interferring) with 30mbps fibre that it's better to go Wi-Fi 6 mesh instead of Wi-Fi 5? Am I wrong in thinking of it like an arms race where you want to have better tech than your adjacent neighbours so that there's less interference on the same channels? Or with only 30mbps line speed does that really kill any motivation to go Wi-Fi 6?

Interference is best solved by changing channels. You might have cluttered 2.4Ghz, but 5ghz should have free channels

OK so hooking up two Deco M4's to the main router would probably more than suffice for my needs. Am finding the range is not the best with the TP-Link router as it struggles to penetrate the walls I suppose due to the angles, meaning quite a lot of concrete is between router and second bedroom.

Welcome to the WiFi conundrum. 2.4Ghz is better at going through walls, but has far fewer channels. 5ghz has tons of channels but doesn't travel as well.

I know very little about this stuff, but I set them up as a main unit (connected to my modem) and two access points (AP mode), so it was easy keeping my ~31 clients connected without having to pair them again.
I was fortunate that my modem is in the middle of the house and the two other DECO's at each end, connecting to the main unit, so guess it's not mesh mode?

i was considering same but thought just go with the . 6 over the 5
so far the Deco seems to be easy set up and go with a lot of feedback and reviews

narrowed down to x55 or x50
X50 on special at incredibly for R5700 for 3 pack

My place is small enough that if I use 2 mesh units (precariously placed) I can have the 2 units in line of sight of each other if the walls are a problem, but probably not necessary seeing as the TP-Link C20 is able to go through all the concrete for the most part.

Had my eye on the X20's a while back but in the end realised it's a nice to have and not necessary yet.

If you're talking about backhaul, I believe they use a dedicated band for that.

Avoid mercusys, although a sub-brand of the tp-link, they suck.

Would have paid extra for the decos had I known.

If you're talking about backhaul, I believe they use a dedicated band for that.

Oh right I forgot about the backhaul band - for supported models it sounds like TP-Link Deco's use the highest band for backhaul that the units are capable of, BUT not all of them have wireless backhaul, it looks like the M4's only have ethernet backhaul, X20's lacking the same according to one article.

You can perform a "network optimization" in the Deco app as often as you want to - the screenshot is from my M4's.

It scans the frequencies and picks the appropriate numbers so you don't get interference.
