Hi all,

Hoping you can help me with something that is driving me nuts.

I have some TP Link access points in my place of work. They all have the DHCP off (getting IPs from our Sonicwall device) and are set up without security so that people can just connect without passwords. Not exactly secure, I know.

Recently we have had a number of people in from another company working here in the same building, and I moved some access points to their locations so that they could use the internet while here. They are all from major finance firms which have their own VPN networks and such.

Whats happening is that when these guys connect to the wifi, it changes the wifi name and puts on a password (e.g. Admin Wifi 4 changed to PC_J6RGNX1_Net... this morning and went from open to having a password that I don't know).

The only way to get it back is to reset it to factory defaults and set it up again...but then the next time they connect it changes yet again.

Am I doing something wrong in the setup?

If its an open network and default settings, it would not be too difficult for one of them to login to the router change the name and put a password on. Maybe try changing the password to get into the routers settings?

They aren't intentionally changing it.

When their computers connect it's changing the password itself. These guys can barely turn on their computers themselves let alone change the wifi.

Maybe it is a script that runs from one of their corporate networks when they connect vpn. Set a login password on the APs so the script cannot execute.
