WiFi Kettle

My kettle has started leaking quite badly so time for a new one. I thought I'd try a WiFi type so I can boil it using an app without leaving my bed in the morning.

There are a few on Takealot with mixed reviews, anyone using one and can recommend?
Option 2 would be an Urn. as it keeps the water at boiling point.
Option 3. Get a minion. Get said Minion to go put kettle on and make coffee.

This must be one of the laziest things to get...
I aspire to this level of convenience (laziness).

@Spizz, please let us know how the esearch goes - I have minions for this job but they’re not always compliant so this is a very useful option to have when they are malfunctioning - dry boil protection will be essential though due to aforesaid minions penchant for not refilling the kettle.

Just get a bean to cup machine. Coffee in 30 seconds.
Lies. its more like 5 minutes.
You have to grind the beans, Then warm up the machine and cup. Then you still have to froth the milk and disolve the sugar. Then GULP GULP GULP and you have to start all over.

Breville don't make bean to cup machines. Nevermind I like my coffee like the parliament. Black.

How much does a Minion cost per month? Not to mention they expire after 18 years.
They are useless for the first 6 or 7 years.. so you are down to 11 years out of 18.. then when they turn 10/11 they stop doing what you ask until they leave the house..

You get 3-4 years of use out of a minion..

Wow, Spending R5million plus only to get 4 years use. Rather buy a Ferrari.

Why on Earth would you need to be able to boil the kettle remotely?

Well, tbf, something you may not have considered is that I'm not you so I have my own needs that may differ from yours.

You've still got to go to the kettle to actually make the cup of coffee or tea.

The amount of time this may potentially save you is so negligible it's ridiculous.

For me it's not about time but rather my habit of making tea and then going back to bed to drink it. So getting out of bed to immediately make tea in the morning and then jumping back in is far preferable to getting out of bed and switching the kettle on and then hanging about in the cold waiting for the kettle to boil.

The point is, I need a new kettle and *I* thought this type might be a worthwhile replacement.

Because I can - in fact, I’ll probably hook it up to HA and schedule a couple of time, weather and location based automations.
