My kettle has started leaking quite badly so time for a new one. I thought I'd try a WiFi type so I can boil it using an app without leaving my bed in the morning.
There are a few on Takealot with mixed reviews, anyone using one and can recommend?
Pretty much all of continental Europe just spat their espressos all over their collective keyboards.I drink tea. Coffee is for Americans.
Get one of those contraptions that makes the entire cup of tea for you. Now THAT makes sense. This ... this is madness.Well, tbf, something you may not have considered is that I'm not you so I have my own needs that may differ from yours.
For me it's not about time but rather my habit of making tea and then going back to bed to drink it. So getting out of bed to immediately make tea in the morning and then jumping back in is far preferable to getting out of bed and switching the kettle on and then hanging about in the cold waiting for the kettle to boil.
The point is, I need a new kettle and *I* thought this type might be a worthwhile replacement.

They make a thing for your needs already. It's called an urn.Because I can - in fact, I’ll probably hook it up to HA and schedule a couple of time, weather and location based automations.
Look for an efficient but also large kettle, buy a decent vacuum flask that can hold like 2 maybe 3 litres.
When you're going to have your last hot beverage for the night you can fill the kettle, boil the water and fill the flask.
You'll wake up in the morning with very hot water as if it was just boiled.
I started doing this when loadshedding started and just kept on doing it because it saves on electricity and I don't have to wait for the water to heat up.
Literally prepare your cup, add hot water and drink.
Far more expensive than wifi and less reliable.... i'll take the kettle any day.The best is a wife who makes your coffee and brings it to you while you are still in bed.

I like this idea. It looks like no-one has a WiFi kettle to recommend anyway, and most of the ones I've seen look like Chinese rubbish and I'd prefer a brand I recognise. I'll do this in the meantime while the hunt continues.
Don't know what you are taking about.Lies. its more like 5 minutes.
You have to grind the beans, Then warm up the machine and cup. Then you still have to froth the milk and disolve the sugar. Then GULP GULP GULP and you have to start all over.

Look I'm with you. Tea reigns supreme. Just the idea that it's only for Americans I laughed at a little. I work with a frenchman who would be offended at being even remotely equated to an AmericanI don't mind it, I just prefer tea. But I guess I have a coffee once a month or so. Funny thing is, my wife owns a pretty popular coffee shop and my son works as a barista in Scotland.
Indeed, but not for a man that wants to schedule boiling throughout the day via home automation.Seriously inefficient for a morning cup of tea.
