I had a repeater that worked great at the beginning, but then after, it was constantly failing. I changed channels, protect and unprotect the signal (from the primary AP), move the repeater from place to place. Nothing really worked.
Final solution: run a cat5e from the main router to the repeater and set it as another AP (same ssid). Now works 100%.
I ran the cable through the outside of the house to make it easier (around 20 mt cable).
