Who can advise me what the real range of a Wi-Fi router and Range Extender is. It appears to be a secret as not even the outlets where you purchase such items seems to know????????????????
I will be grateful!

how long is a piece of string?

every unit is different depending on power output not to mention it is affected by where the router or extender is placed, the thickness of walls as well as other interfering devices in the 2.4Ghz range.

No one will be able to answer that because so many things effect you signal. Heck even when you put your microwave on you affect your signal.

Every wall can decrease the signal by 25% or even more depending on whats inside of that wall.

There is no easy answer you can however google get the tools and work it out yourself.

I've learnt over the years that the "range extenders" arent worth a damn. Now, when clients ask me to extend the wifi range I either pull a cable and add a access point or I use UBNT devices to create a wireless bridge and add a access point on the other side.

Use netgear wifi analytics and inssider to monitor it.

the newer range extenders use your electrical wiring as a link to the extender. Simply plug in a wall socket where you need the signal.

you will have to judge how far your signal can go according to your surroundings and the output power of the equipment and the signal gain from the antenna.

so once you factor in these variables, ppl here might be able to give you an answer.

+1 to this, i'd advise anyone to try these powerline AV adapters they are much more reliable than wireless extenders
