I recently got invited to an interview for a job with a company that is in the UK and I'm not sure if I'll need a visa should I be successful.

The role is remote, the said company is headquartered in the UK, but they do have an office in Cape Town. I'm communicating with the UK office and I'm wondering if the contract should I be successful, will also come from them requiring me to get a work visa?

If it is a fully remote position, working from South Africa, then you would not need a work visa, if they have offices in South Africa, check if they have registered entity here, if they do then they will be able to hire you in a permanent position and pay over all benefits and government requirements. If they don't you will need to be hired as an independent contractor, either on an indefinite contract or they can set a period and renew.

As an independent contractor you will need to pay over all your taxes etc. yourself. If that is the case you are welcome to pop me a PM, I have quite a few candidates working remotely in this kind of setup and have a lovely lady that has helped them setup everything to make sure their payments are made.

If you’ll be in SA whilst working for them, no. If you need to go to the UK - yes.

Thank you for the information. It is very helpful and should things go the independent contractor route, I'll definitely give you a shout.
