My wife was involved in an accident on Friday night at about 22:40 on the N2 just after the False Bay One Stop on her way home to Somerset West. She hit a pedestrian crossing the highway. She is fine but the pedestrian did not survive.
I was first on the scene and no other witnesses or motorists stopped. Paramedics and police were there 15 minutes later and were very helpful. They said there was nothing my wife could have done and was lucky that she did not swerve and potentially roll the car.
The car is currently with the insurance but the assessors will only look at it next week and I should know by the end of the week what they decide. Ideally I want then to write it off. Wife will not be comfortable driving the car again. The car starts and no warnings come on. It does however look like the radiator and aircon is busted.
So how likely is it to be written off based on the limits info and pics I can give in the condition of the car?
This is our first accident where the car potentially could be written off. Already checked and the settlement is less than what the car is covered for so not worried about having to pay anything in. Will probably get between R50k and R60K if the insurance writes it off.
