Does anyone use something other than the default "Windows Explorer"?

At the end of the work day I often find I have a lot of separate instances of explorer open as I am using files from various areas on the server and don't want to keep browsing back and forth. A few years ago I tried a few alternatives that offered tabs which was really useful but they all seemed to be lacking in a few features which was annoying.

Can anyone suggest something?

Are you guys actually using any of these?

Using Total Commander mostly for FTP.

If you're old school, it's like Norton Commander.

It has a built in file compare that I find useful from time to time.

Directory Opus. Been using it for about 6 years, it's expensive but worth every rand.

It's simply the rolls royce of file managers, you can set everything up the way you like it & switch between content aware views (listers) to suit what you're doing, it handles the slog of bulk or repetitive tasks really well and if that's not enough, it comes with a built-in macro/code language perfectly suited for automation. Multiple tabs are a breeze, it has a dynamic favorites system for often used folders, collections for building file lists you what to process collectively, built-in FTP, folder sync, a much better configurable search system than Windows etc.. the list really is too long.

Only thing is I'm still on win7 never used it on & can't vouch for it on 8+

I love it too. Paid my registration back in the early 90s. Maybe I should register again - I've got my money's worth!

Free Commander. Haven't used the others but I've been happy with FC for years.
