Windows 10 launched in SA

Nothing on my Dell laptop so far...tried the wuauclt.exe /updatenow trick but nothing.

Would be interesting to see how much traction it gets in the market, especially in the corporate environment.

Our company (around 1200 people) is updating our computers from today for those that want it. It's a big change from Windows 8 and 8.1 that took a month before it was allowed to be used, since they had to wait for the anti-virus and other "enterprise" software to be updated.

With the Windows 10 previews, it seems all the vendors we use have been on point in doing upgrades.

I'm really looing forward to running win10 on my Asus T100. Should be a nice improvement, especially with the Edge browser.

Strangely I've seen a few Metro Apps weren't ready to go with Windows 10's Modern UI resizing, they either crashed or had horrible UI issues, hopefully that will be sorted over the next few days.

The files have been downloaded on my PC, but I have yet to get the notification to upgrade.

The trick will be to dual boot the new installation with my Windows 8.1 at first, till all the bugs are sorted out And I have had a chance to backup all my files.

Windows 10 been silently downloading in the background, if you check your local disk that holds your OS there should be a folder named "$Windows.~BT" this is where Windows 10 has downloaded to, we will receive a notification when it's ready to install :) Just a small warning there is an .exe in that folder called Setup.exe, do not run it as it will clear everything in that folder... Personally I'm really looking forward to this upgrade :D

ok I am going to ask this here as well. I want to test windows 10 in our corporate environment but my desktop and laptop has not been given the upgrade notice yet. what could the cause be and is there a way to force it to bring the notification up

That notification was pushed with an update kb305583 or something similar back in april, if you do not have that update installed you wont have the notification, etc.

I had a big update to install which took nearly all day to download yesterday and I thought it must be windows 10 upgrade. I thought I would leave it for tomorrow to install, I came in today and it has disappeared and also the shutdown icon said it had updates to install which also disappeared :-(

Thanks :D. Seems like that's Microsoft's way of telling you "Be patient, you moron now you will have to re-download the whole thing"... Yup I was tempted to click that, glad I didn't :o

I first need to get an SSD before I trial the official release on my one PC with a harrr windows 7 install

I've got the update ready, but can't install yet because I'm on a mobile connection. Need to get to the office pronto!

Wonder if this folder can be written to DVD for a clean install later?
