Windows 10 now shows unremovable ads

Windows 10 users will now be greeted with an unremovable advertisement in one of the operating system's native apps.

Softpedia reported that the ad appears in the left sidebar of Windows 10's Mail app for desktop and there is no way to hide it.

I dont have an issue with an ad being shown in an essentially free app like Mail. I've upgraded to Office 365 personal, so this is not an issue for me.

Imagine paying money for a product, and then still being sold the idea that ads are normal and not a problem. Them socialist consumers are too easy to game.

If ads were being shown in a core component of the operating system's user experience, for example the Xbox app used to access Xbox Game Pass or the calculator, then sure, it's worth bitching endlessly about. But the mail app is rubbish and no one should be using it. And a line of text to use a related Microsoft product is hardly a conventional advert anyway.

The article headline makes it sound like you get advertising blasted on your desktop or need to watch a 5 minute ad before opening up an app. Meanwhile it is a line of text in mail. I'm not chuffed, but it is hardly anything major.

I'm surprised that people haven't upgraded to Windows 10 yet. I used Windows 7 a while back and it felt ancient.

Also, how are people upset about the ads in the apps? I don't use any of the apps. You can still use your normal applications.

You mean like AAA video games?
Just look at Death Stranding and Monster energy

But now is the time to get outraged right?
Just because windows is in the title?

Where is the outrage in my post? You just compared a video game for children to a tool that is widely used for business. Why do people assume I posted what I did because it's windows? You g-guys can't be that much of windows shills right?
