"The ad contains only text, which reads “Get the free Outlook app on your phone”. "
Is this really an "ad", or simply a suggestion to use another free product that extends the functionality of the MS email solution?
The article headline makes it sound like you get advertising blasted on your desktop or need to watch a 5 minute ad before opening up an app. Meanwhile it is a line of text in mail. I'm not chuffed, but it is hardly anything major.
Where is the outrage in my post? You just compared a video game for children to a tool that is widely used for business. Why do people assume I posted what I did because it's windows? You g-guys can't be that much of windows shills right?
Windows 10 constantly raises my blood pressure. It gets horribler and horrible with every update. We really need more viable options.
Okay, just noticed this on my laptop. This issue is way overblown, when you consider how inconspicuous the "ad" is. And it even disappears when the hamburger menu is clicked.
Back to work, everyone.
The Mail client is schit, but if you paid for Windows, you'd have a good enough reason to be annoyed at a forced ad. I fcken hate ads, I'll block them wherever I can.I don't see a problem, this is a mail client and Microsoft does not force a user to use it.
There are many other alternatives.
Don't want ads buy office with outlook or go opensource and use Thunderbird.

DSTV's adverts consume colossal amounts of content time.If it's just them marketing their own alternatives I also wouldn't call it an ad.
By that logic we should lambast DSTV or Netflix or Hulu or Amazon for marketing their own content at us.
I upgraded my miner to Windows 10. Using both at the same time I can say Windows 7 is MUCH more user friendly and easier to use. People make a big deal about the type to search yet I'm doing that in Windows 7.I'm surprised that people haven't upgraded to Windows 10 yet. I used Windows 7 a while back and it felt ancient.
Also, how are people upset about the ads in the apps? I don't use any of the apps. You can still use your normal applications.
It doesn't. Mail client may be a free program but so is calculator and media player. People won't tolerate ads in those so there's no reason to tolerate them in something just because there's an alternative. This is all a testing ground for windows as a service and it seems MS is getting exactly the reaction they want with users not caring.Cool. So for me it's not the ad. It's the principle. Sure, the issue is overblown now, but whats next? Look at how small this little ad in the start menu is. Look at the small little ad whenever I have task manager open. Look at how short the video is that I have to watch before I can logon... Where does it end?

A.K.A DSTVImagine paying money for a product, and then still being sold the idea that ads are normal and not a problem. Them socialist consumers are too easy to game.
Because the something new you have to jump through hoops. On the subject of something new also used Linux and it's much easier to get used to. So there goes your theory.Easier to use in what way? To me it sounds like you are just used to something and not used to something new yet.
