Hi all,

I have read a lot about Windows 10 but there are still some things that are unclear.

I'll ask a few questions so please answer them if you're sure about the answer.

1) If I have Win 7 or 8/8.1 & it's legal.... & I upgrade..... Is it really free forever? Or just for 1 year & then you have to buy it after that one year has expired.

2) Does anyone know a working URL where I can download some kind of app where I can test individual workstations to see if they're eligible for an upgrade? ( Many machines don't have that Upgrade Now icon ).

Questions are only for laptops / desktops ( I'm not worried about tablets / phones etc )

Thank you to all

If you upgrade machine x within a year you won't pay anything for windows 10 on machine x for 10 years. It's completely free. The one year isn't a trial period which, I think, is what you meant.

As I understand.... If you upgrade within one year of it's release ( 26 July 2015 or whatever ) then it's FREE. ( The upgrade ).

Now you have Windows 10 & using it.

One year passes....

Can you continue using Windows 10 or will it start saying, "Hey, one year is up so now you have to pay to carry on using it".

No, it's not a trial. Updates will also be free for 10 years.

You can continue using it for the lifetime of the device i.e. as long as the motherboard is functional

Gentlemen, thank you so much for helping me & taking the time to reply.

Thank you

Another question my side, does anyone know why every time I log in, the notification icon inverts colors = says it has a message, but when I click on it, it has no message? Any way to fix that?
