Maybe he is like me and cannot successfully download an ISO file. It would be easier to make a copy from someone else's disc

I am in Cape Town southern suburbs

Why not use a proper download app like wget or aria2?

Only have 10GB per month. Downloaded and file is not recognized. Can't give it another shot...

If you used a download manager to download the file check that it doesn't have the sparse attribute set, if it does copy it somewhere else on your hard drive or use WinRAR to extract it.

Control Panel window auto-closes.

Uninstall IDT audio control panel, had the same issue on my laptop.

"One of the more interesting bits of data the company is collecting is text entered. Some are calling this a keylogger within the Windows 10 Technical Preview, which isn't good news. Taking a closer look at the Privacy Policy for the Windows Insider Program, it looks like Microsoft may be collecting a lot more feedback from you behind the scenes. Microsoft collects information about you, your devices, applications and networks, and your use of those devices, applications and networks. Examples of data we collect include your name, email address, preferences and interests; browsing, search and file history; phone call and SMS data; device configuration and sensor data; and application usage." This isn't the only thing Microsoft is collecting from Insider Program participants. According to the Privacy Policy, the company is collecting things like text inputted into the operating system, the details of any/all files on your system, voice input and program information.

YAY more fear-mongering. People are blowing this way out of proportion. Everything they're collecting is to help make the OS better, not to spy on every TP user, Microsoft doesn't have time to do that.

Its a key logger only as far as Microsoft tracks searches inside the Start menu and then analyses how many users click a result or how many need to backtrack and change their search terms before they find what they want. Other things collected are Cortana searches which aren't individually identifiable, and hotkey usage and keyboard navigation techniques to see how many people use the keyboard to move about the interface.

Yes, I myself have no problems with MS logging what I type.

However, it is scary to think that they could well sit with a database that would provide LE with information such as torrent users and what they downloaded, hackers and where they hacked, users using pirated software and what software, users downloading or copying music and what music, etc., etc.

Even worse, what if MS do decide to go the Google route and targeted advertising... they know what you have on your PC, they know what you search for on any search engine or website, they know what documents you read, what magazines you read, what websites you visit and much more. Imagine the spam!

Just imagine the possibilities...

Meh, they've been able to do that and have been doing that for years. Leaked data from the PRISM program tells us that they were the first to crumble under the pressure in 2007 and that there are numerous backdoors installed for the NSA and other intelligence organisations.

But since policing everything is a tough task without getting lost in the astonishing amount of data that flows around on the internet, I don't think they're using all logging techniques that they can to track you. Even the NSA can only hold metadata from an individual for a few weeks before they have to delete it and make space for more data from others.

If you're not on their radar to begin with, you can drop off it just as quickly.

Even worse, what if MS do decide to go the Google route and targeted advertising... they know what you have on your PC, they know what you search for on any search engine or website, they know what documents you read, what magazines you read, what websites you visit and much more. And its been happening every day since 2004, yeah. I've stopped thinking about it, TBH, it doesn't bother me anymore.
