No news. It just works.

Last night on TWiT's WW, there was considerable discussion about the Tech Preview.

Paul Thurrott said that though this is early code, there is great cause to rejoice. "We won, Leo. We won! Windows 10 shows that Microsoft finally gets it. In the twenty years I've been covering Microsoft, this is the first time I've seen this - they actually listened. And though its far from finished, the Tech Preview is fast, stable, and pretty much exactly what Win8 should have been to excite Win7 users."

Agreed.

I definitely prefer 10 over 7. The additional features are just so much more I could have asked for!

I am excited to see if they will come up with more features!

... just remember this is a far-from-complete build. I hear we are in for many more pleasant surprises.

Agreed.

It is not yet completed, but this far I can confirm that it is stable enough to be used as a primary OS. It works flawlessly, no driver issues and all my normal software is functioning the way it should.

I cannot wait to see what is in store over the next few months!

So if you upgrade to Windows 10 Preview from Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Centre, will you get Windows 10 for free when the Preview ends in March 2015?

Perhaps.

With Windows 8 they did offer an upgrade from the technical preview to the final version, but this upgrade removed all personal files and program settings, almost like a clean install.

They will probably do the same with 10 again.

To be safe, make a disc image of your current OS, before installing the Tech Preview, to ensure you do not loose information.

I'm having a couple of issues, nothing serious though.

1. VPN connections stop working after laptop has been put to sleep and woken again with error 633, a reboot solves it until the next time the laptop has been to sleep.

2. Alt+Tab fails to switch when focused on a RDP session in Remote Desktop Connection Manager, the selected window just flashes on the task bar instead of switching to it.

How does Win10 feel speed wise compared to Win8 & Win7? I have not installed 10 yet but to me Win7 definitely feels more responsive than Win8.

Has anyone had luck installing this using Parallels?

The Parallels knowledge base says that it's all good, and I did install it. But a lot of things didn't work such as screen resolution, and copying from the host OS to the VM.

Keen to hear if anyone has a seamless experience.

Yes, as above, Windows 10 is snappy and fast. Performing better than Windows 7 and 8. The new features and changes this far simply makes it a better operating system!

Feels about the same as Win 8.1 which is impressive for a TechPreview build

Ponder, Win 8.1 should definitely feel faster than Win 7 on the same hardware
