Windows 10 Technical Preview - Insider Program

The guys on the technical preview, what are you going to use after April 15th till release?

Already use linux but there will probably be a "patch" for Win10 or I could just reinstall Win7 and upgrade it to Win10 for gaming.

Reason why I'm asking, I have a friend who thought techical preview end date and Windows 10 release date is the same day. He installed Technical preview as main/only OS on his PC. :D

What's up with the specific date?

Edit: Microsoft has said before that anyone on the Technical Preview build, at least the latest one available before RTM, will be able to upgrade to a regular Windows 10 license and build, so there shouldn't be any off switches for the preview builds as they stand right now.

Also, the release is sometime in September, at least that's my best guess because Intel has to launch Skylake just before, or immediately after, Windows 10 becomes available.

Technical preview end 15 April, IIRC. Will it still be usable up to the release date (anytime from mid June iirc).
I remember Windows 7 preview wasn't usable back then, so I just asume same will happen.

Nearly killed my ssd with the latest preview of Windows 10. It's taken me now 3 days to get it back up and running. Not going there again till it's released in the wild. It was nice though, what I saw of it.

You didn't use Acronis to restore the previous image? Takes a few minutes.

There was no previous image and it totally destroyed my boot manager. Was a nightmare, I nearly couldn't even get back to my other drive.

I'm off the Technical Preview for now. It broke in so many ways for me today that I spent most of it trying to fix it. In the meantime, I'm going to follow up on my promise to do more reporting on Gaming on Linux.

Gaming on Linux still requires so many AAA titles before I can swop completely :(

My laptop currently updating. Anyone know where to check total data downloaded? All I see is download rate in my WiFi monitor under performance. I'm used to seeing data with "ifconfig".
