Especially if the folder contains many images it’ll take more than a few seconds to load the thumbnails, even in dialog boxes like when uploading pics to the web it’ll glitch. And when you open your pinned favourites in Explorer it will properly glitch and freeze for a good while before the favourites expands, I think the pinned favourites list is called Home now for some reason.

Windows 11 KB5021255 and KB5021234 cumulative updates released​

Microsoft has released the Windows 11 KB5021255 and KB5021234 cumulative updates for versions 22H2 and 21H2 to fix security vulnerabilities and resolve twenty-nine bugs and performance issues.

Both KB5021255 and KB5021234 are mandatory cumulative updates as they contain the December 2022 Patch Tuesday security updates for vulnerabilities discovered in previous months.

These security updates include a fix for an actively exploited vulnerability that bypassed the Mark of the Web security warnings. Threat actors exploited the flaw in malware distribution campaigns that installed ransomware on Windows devices.

Windows 11 users can install today's update by going to Start > Settings > Windows Update and clicking on 'Check for Updates.'

I have a beast of a machine and it even happens browsing files on an SSD, definitely isn’t an insufficient resources related issue.

PS easy way to update any old system is to use Rufus.

Simply download ISO from Microsoft's website

Pop in a USB, make it bootable via Rufus that will give you the option to disable CPU & TPM check as well as ram limitations and such:

Pop the USB into the system you wanna update, run set-up to upgrade or simply boot from it if you want a fresh install.

I have tried making a Windows 11 USB installer for old/unsupported machines using RUFUS with my Lenovo laptop running Windows 7. This laptop is a 2013 year model.

I am not presented with the options to disable CPU & TPM check when using RUFUS.
Is it because I am using a Windows 7 machine to create the USB ?
Must the USB be created using a machine running Windows 10 ?

Are you you the latest version 3.21 ?

You should get the option to enable those options as soon as you click start to create/copy files to the USB

After that the install process will auto do its thing.

Tried using a Windows 10 pc and the options appeared.

So it seems like Rufus doesn't play too nicely with Windows 7.
 
I can't work without the tabs, been using Clover for years but it has been blocked by Malwarebytes lately.

It is much easier than different windows.

Do you guys who don't use it open up new windows for Chrome or use tabs?

I definitely use tabs in Chrome/Firefox. But that is a completely different scenario to how I use Windows Explorer. You can have two windows in a group, side by side. That allows me to drop drag and drop a file from on to the other.

An earlier post mentioned Explorer tabs are now officially rolled out?

Qdir is a nice multitab explorer and I still use Qttab which is amazing and integrates directly into explorer, I’m not sure if it will work on a fresh install but mines still chugging along just great.

As previously said, each to their own ... I have ZERO use for it as I don't have to access numerous different folders in numerous different locations.

Comparing it to tabs in a browser doesn't make sense :X3:

Actually, it makes a lot of sense to people who access numerous different folders in numerous difference locations

I normally have 2 Explorer Windows open, each with various tabs. It is then easy to drag and drop and to access the folders quickly, without having a multitude of open windows.

The one missing option is the ability to save the "startup" tabs and windows.
