I'm gonna partition my HDD and probably test drive this baby!

I downloaded the 32bit version but probably should've gone 64. I'm gonna grab the 64bit and survive the rest of the month on WA prepaid.

if only you stayed in jhb, ide borrow you my uncapped for the month if you give me that 32 bit

I have feo, I've done alot of reading, but I don't want to put a BETA product on my PC, not one as buggy as Windows 7... and yes, I know it's buggy as hell, it's a MS product!

I'll wait till like BETA 3 or something.

It's not as buggy as you think. Performace wise, it outstrips both XP and Vista and this is for an OS that hasn't even been optimised for day to day tasks.

If you have a spare machine, try it out.

there is only 2 beta's.

first alpha versions x 2 ( alpha 1 and alpha 2 )

then beta versions x 2 ( beta 1 and beta 2 )

then RC versions x 2 ( RC 1 and RC 2 )

then RTM version ( release to manufacturers )

then final release. ( the final release and RTM versions are exactly the same, nothing is changed except version numbers etc ... )


With the current stable state of windows 7 these versions will probably come very quickly. I have found minimal bugs and had no problems thus far ( touch wood ), i think Microsoft said something about releasing final in July, at the quality of this release i can see that happening.

seriously man, you should try beta 1, even in beta it has less bugs than vista sp1.

If anyone wants a copy I have both versions downloaded. I'm quite prepared to stick it on a disk and post it on Monday to anywhere in SA.

I got 5.9 for the same drive in Windows Vista, wtf, imba scores...

What motherboard you running? The HDD score might be seriously effected by the data channel to the drive.

the HD4850 gets a 7.9

I got 7.9 for normal Graphics option, but 6.5 for Gaming Graphics. Could be that the ATI supports DX11, and mine only DX10

Windows 7 is loaded with DX11 by default...

Dude i got the exact same Hdd as you too ( two weeks ago lol ) and i see there is a tiny jumper pin that i pulled out that takes the 1.5Gbps limit off to 3 gbps

It runs smooth. Played Cod 5 WaW without problems. Windows 7 is better than Vista on my pc
